This place is absolutely beautiful and the photos don’t quite do it justice. The birdsong was stunning, it really did feel like a hideaway in the bush as it was very private. The house is dated as the photos suggest but that was fine, the kitchen was fully equipped. There were no updated house instructions at the house at all, just some very old bits of paper, but it didn’t really matter. As we went in spring, the place was a good temperature. It heats up a lot during the day which is lovely, then the oil heaters were adequate in the evening. It might get quite hot in the summer. Beautiful balconies and lovely little tracks through the bush on the section for kids to play on. I couldn’t get over the abundance of Tui and Kereru all throughout Pukawa. What a lovely place.

Amazing property, it was so peaceful amidst the bushes. All amenities were provided and we had a pleasant stay for two days. Would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Taupo or Mt Ruapehu.

The house is beautifully designed and laid out with gorgeous surroundings, lovely views from the various decks- the sound of cicadas and birds singing is astounding. But the house is well lived-in and everything is a tad worn and weathered. It wasn’t cleaned to the standard we were expecting. There was a bucket of dirty water left on the desk when we arrived. The second bedroom is a bit oddly laid out with the double bed being a high bunk accessible by a ladder. One bed wasn’t made and there was a clump of hair in another. We would expect better attention to detail from a place of this price. We contacted the Airbnb support team about these issues and they received no response from Bachcare at all.

A real alpine bush hideaway. The house is in a private spot high up above the lake with a view of the sun rising over Mount Tauhara and the night lights of Taupō, We loved being able to enjoy this pet-friendly home away from home with our two pooches while we were working in the area. There are plenty of great bush walks close and these make for an interesting walk down to the lake.

The house we stayed in was stunning, it provided my small group with everything we could have hoped for! My experience with Bach Care however was poorly. It wasn’t even my Holiday Manager, she was great! It was someone from Bach Care’s head office/service centre. I will never use Bach Care again.. but the house was GREAT!!!
