We had a wonderful time at the cottage! It was peaceful and centrally located to get to Marion and all the wineries on the wine trail. The place was super clean and the perfect space for us and our friends. We are already looking to book for next year’s trip!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this clean and cozy property. The highlight was the BBQ experience on the back deck with a beautiful view of the lake. We would love to come back in the future!

My family loved their stay at Allison's property. It is situated in such a peaceful location and has everything that we needed. We stayed at this home, for a week. During this time, my kids made good use of all of the available board games and TVs (with streaming platforms). Kitchen was stocked with pots/pans and basic items that we needed for cooking. We loved the way this home has been tastefully decorated and has a number of screened-in areas that allow beautiful views of the scenery and fresh air. There are a number of hiking trails close by, we also drove to Garden of the Gods etc. Allison was very proactive with her communication and provided information for a smooth check-in, check-out, plus recommendations on places to visit. We would love to stay at this property again, if we are visiting this area.

Great place for a group of 6. The photos and description of the unit are spot on. The access to the lake was a nice bonus. While a neighbor had a dog, it was great to see deers casually walking about the neighborhood. Would definitely one back again.

The nearest town of Marion is just a 20 minute drive away and has great restaurants, shops and bars. Southern Illinois University-Carbondale is approximately 30 minutes away.
This lake house is located on Lakeshore Dr. South on the west side of Lake of Egypt. Located just off the main channel, this lake house features excellent, deep water with quick access to all things Lake of Egypt.
Lake of Egypt is a stunning lake in the Little Egypt region of Illinois. It is located six miles south of Marion, Illinois and covers 2,300 acres with 90 miles of shoreline. The lake has an average depth of 18 feet with a maximum depth of 52 feet. If fishing is your passion, Lakeshore Cottage is the perfect spot for you with its own private dock for fishing the healthy populations of bass, bluegill and crappie.
A wide array of wineries, breweries, specialty shops, unique eateries, and art galleries dot southern Illinois near Lake of Egypt and are only a few minutes’ drive from your front door.
You can travel the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, which is composed of eleven wineries situated on beautiful rolling hills along a 40-mile trail.
Giant City State Park, an outdoor lover’s paradise of hiking, horseback riding, fishing, and rappelling is just 30 minutes away. The park also is home to one of the most popular restaurants in southern Illinois. Ferne Clyffe State Park is just minutes away from Lakeshore Cottage. Impressive rock formations can be seen from almost all the park trails, but two of the best-known sights are Hawks Cave, a 150-foot-long shelter bluff, and a 100-foot-tall intermittent waterfall on the Big Rocky Hollow trail.

From Nashville, Chicago or St. Louis, Lake of Egypt sits just a few miles off I-57, making the drive quick and easy. Chicago is an approximately 5-hour drive,while St. Louis and Nashville are an easy 2-hour and 3-hour hour drive, respectively. Daily flights are available to and from St. Louis and Nashville from Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois (located 15 minutes from Lake of Egypt). Car rental is available at the airport.
Amtrak is available from Chicago to Carbondale, just twenty miles from the home.
GPS will get you to the location on Lakeshore Dr. South.

As you can tell by my reviews and Superhost status, I LOVE what I do. I have been an Airbnb host since 2016. The husband and I started hosting guests on our 50 foot motor yacht on Kentucky Lake when we owned and operated Kentucky Lake Boat Charters. We love meeting new people and sharing our best experiences- so much in fact that we decided to build cabins on our property to host guests in southern Illinois. Thus, Dam Near Lake of Egypt Cabins, LLC was born. After a couple of years under my belt and getting the backend management to a well-oiled machine, I have grown this business into Southern Illinois Vacation Rentals, LLC. and Professional Hosting Services for other property owners. Fun fact: Dam Near Lake of Egypt Cabins is a pun to help identify our location- Near Lake of Egypt, but not waterfront. We are just 1 mile from Lake of Egypt's dam. ;-) Randoms about us: - Husband, Michael is a USCG Captain, fantastic wakeboarder and a spirited entrepreneur - Allison is a military combat veteran, homeschool mom and new entrepreneur - We have been married for 19 years and have 2 kiddos, a loyal mutt, a docile Great Dane and a couple of lazy felines - When we aren't working, we love fellowship with others around a good campfire or working on house projects.
