The house itself is great - large, clean and well appointed. We had an issue with service though, hence the relatively poor rating. I will details the issues here and every one can make up their mind about it: 1. The swimming pool was unusable - it was filled with barely ankle-deep water of a dark green colour. we were told it would be sorted, but then that it would not be because of local drought restrictions. The managing agent blamed the previous travellers, but in truth the issue was that the pool had been poorly maintained (not the right amount of chemicals), and that is surely the problem of the management company. 2. when we arrived the beds were not made. the sheets had been left on the beds, for us to make. we've been using Airbnb for a long time and that was a first in terms of poor service. when I rang the management company (they failed to turn up for checking in as they were "too busy" on what was a change-over weekend), they said they did not know which bed to make. they refused to send someone to help. we made our own beds - no big deal really, but poor service. 3. the property is advertised for 16, but when we booked I was not sure how many people would join our party. so I gave the name of 6 people. a few days before arriving I confirmed I wanted all 16 places ready. (in the end we were 6 the first two days, then 10 for 3 days, then back to 5 for the last 2 days). the management company proceeded to ask me for an extra £150 in cash, which I refuse to pay. Airbnb support services were great in handling the issues and without prompting gave us some money back . part of the issue seems to be that the owner contracts with a local agent, who then subcontracts to Belvilla, who then puts it on Airbnb. the results is a lack of communication and poor service which is the shame because the house itself is great and was clean. overall we enjoyed our stay but it would have been better without the issues mentioned above.
