The place was as advertised, clean, very new a short drive from Appleby and set in the village of Bolton. Those arriving by car make sure you head through the estate as the accommo is towards the back!

This apartment had such potential to offer a lovely stay but we were badly let down by faulty equipment, poor cleanliness and customer service. This is part of a large redevelopment of a characterful old school site and has high ceilings, new fittings and lovely massive windows letting in lots of light. Sadly it seems to have been rushed and corners cut. We experienced: - a faulty fridge freezer (resulting in our supplies going off) - a bath with no bath taps, electric showers which only ran cool or cold - no heating in one bedroom until an electrician was sent to repair it.. faulty light switch.. - finding broken glass, cobwebs and even an old dog biscuit lying around - a heavy kitchen cupboard door coming off its hinges Whilst the place looks good in photos it seems to have been kitted out as a show home rather than a holiday home / short term let. For example, not enough crockery, no mattress or pillow protectors, nothing to make coffee with.. We felt somewhat used for building snagging and rental set up rather than welcomed as guests. Cutlery was dumped in a drawer straight from the shop for example and we had to remove all the packaging and wash it all ourselves before we could even eat. Crockery looked unwashed with barcode stickers on everything. Fear the towels were probably similarly unwashed. I’ve never had to write a negative review on Airbnb before and feel awkward doing so, but with integrity just wanted to share our experience for others. These may well be snagging issues with the rush to rent for half term and it hopefully will be a great place to stay in time. Residential Estates who actually manage the property were not as professional to deal with as their branding might suggest and we didn’t feel valued as customers. After two crying children, three despairing adults, a cold bath, gone off milk and a string of broken or dirty things we were very worn down by a stressful time. We did manage to negotiate a partial refund to go some way to acknowledge the issues, with thanks to Natalie. That said, I don’t feel anyone should have been charged to stay there given the lack of readiness for guests.
