Cortijo La Hoya is a stunning property overlooking the African shores, surrounded by a lush garden, the charming cottage La Luna offers confortable bedding, a well equiped kitchen, and a little terrasse for candlelit dinners. The pool is spacious and offer unique ocean views. Our host Carla was very reactive and helpful during the whole stay. We definitely recommand for nature lovers, and everyone looking for rest and peace in a heavenly place!

Das Cottage Luna ist sehr gemütlich und mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht. Sowohl die Unterkunft als auch der Garten und Pool sind sehr gepflegt und liebevoll gestaltet, und die Lage hoch über der Straße von Gibraltar mit Blick auf Afrika ist sensationell. Wir haben einen friedlichen Ort zum Relaxen und Entspannen gesucht und unsere Erwartungen wurden mehr als erfüllt. Rafael war sehr freundlich, und auf unseren Wunsch hin war auch der Pool noch verfügbar. Wir waren Anfang November dort und die einzigen Gäste. Die Straße zum Anwesen führt auf den letzten vier Kilometern durch landwirtschaftliches Gelände und ist ein bisschen ruckelig (eine Art Feldweg oder Schotterstraße), lässt sich aber auch mit einem Fiat 500 gut bewältigen, wenn man langsam unterwegs ist. Und das Ziel am Ende der Straße lohnt alle Mühen! Wir kommen gerne wieder.

I'd genuinely like to keep this location a complete secret because it's so wonderful I'd like to keep it just for myself! Don't be put off by the track from the main road. It's pretty bumpy but we hired a Ford Focus and it was fine. It's a 3km drive, the worst part is actually at the top where you come off the main road! The location is amazing, quite remote with sublime views from the property and gardens across the infinity pool to the Straits of Gibraltar and Morocco. The view changes all of the time, I promise you will never get bored with the view! There's quick Wifi in the property, a small kitchen and comfortable living accommodation. Everything was very clean and tidy, the bathroom and bedroom were great. Rafael even left us with some delicious green peppers that were grown in his garden (nice touch). Some travel tips that might help you. We flew to Gibraltar and walked across to Spain and collected our hire car from Autos Aguirre. It was an ok car rental experience and I would recommend them based on this trip. Make sure you leave plenty of time to get back to Gibraltar airport, the road traffic backs up for miles in the morning with people crossing the border from Spain. Carrefour in Algeciras is 15 minutes down the main road and has everything you'll need from wine to bread and just about everything in-between! Just remember shops are closed on Sunday. I'd like to add that Rafael was great. He's a lovely host, there when you need him and happy to help. And finally what lovely dogs! Congo the black Labrador has lots of character and is as cheeky as you can imagine. Don't leave your flipflops unattended or you'll be playing 'fetch' with him for hours! And the two Dachshunds are adorable. What lovely company and what a lovely place to stay. Thanks again Rafael. See you soon!

Cottage Luna is very stylish, peaceful and comfortable. Rafael was very welcoming: he even gave us a lift down on the first day because there had been a huge storm the night before that had damaged the track. The track was quickly repaired, and we had no further trouble in our hire car. We went slowly, which we wanted to do anyway, because the drive to Cortijo La Hoya is beautiful and goes through some lovely cork oak woodland with views of Gibraltar and Morocco. We were there for the wildlife and it didn't disappoint. We saw lots of raptors: griffon vultures, booted eagles, short-toed eagles, black kites and sparrowhawk's every day. Hawfinch was also daily; up to four sitting on on bare tree tops below the swimming pool first thing every morning. We also scoped a family of wild boar and a roe deer on the last hill looking out to sea.
