Our stay at this mountain cabin was perfect. The views were stunning, and the cabin was cozy and well-equipped. Adam and Sarah were incredibly helpful, providing clear directions and great local tips. Highly recommended!
Nice location for getaway cabin retreat would stay again
We had a great stay at Adam & Sarah’s home! The house was very clean, beautiful surroundings and quiet. My boys enjoyed having their own rooms and exploring the property.
This is a fantastic large home high up on Sundance Mountain Road. My family (2 adults 2 kids) stayed here and also hosted other friends (2 adults 2 kids) staying on the mountain in another home, during the day. There are two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a comfortable third bedroom, and a fourth room/office with an additional small bed. There are tons of congregation spaces -- a large living room by the entrance, a second large kitchen/dining/living space, and a very relaxing south-facing porch. The four kids had a great time running around the home and property. There is a nice outdoor deck and sitting porch outside the main bedroom. The property is very private with other homes only slightly visible with no foliage. The home was well-equipped and the hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. Sunsets were spectacular and it was extremely quiet. Bedroom windows are covered with dark but translucent shades (not black-out). Would love to stay again!
Had a great stay. Went to wineries in the area and a quaint local general store.

We are up in the Sundance Mountains ⛰, mile plus of steep gravel road to get to the cabin. JMU and city of Harrisonburg about 20 minutes away. Shenandoah National Parks and the hiking trails or about 20 minutes away as well. A few local restaurants in the area - about 10 minute drive.
You can hike around the property and down from the mountains, but you definitely need wheels to get to town and everywhere else.

We are both into travel & adventures, and we love going to cabins. We fell in love with the valley/mountains -years ago- and have been going to cabins frequently. We realize that time with our kids & families is so precious, so we wanted a big enough place to spend quality family time. El-Gabal Retreat was the result of that.
