Palacio de Sant'Anna was a wonderful stay. It is very well located, close to Av. da Liberdade. As everywhere in Lisbon you'll have to walk up a hill (we usually did the steps of the elevador do Lavra to get up there) but it was no problem for us. We felt safe as two female travelers walking together. Highly recommended to take an Uber the first time you'll get there with your suitcases. We stayed in beautiful room 26 and had a bathroom just for us on the same floor. Showers on the first floor were always free, never had to wait to use them. As so many other guests had said before, cleanliness and quietness really depend of what sort of people is staying at the same time as you are and we were very lucky to have considered co-guests. This is definitely a place for people who appreciate special places with history and character. If you are looking for a sleek modern room you'll have to look somewhere else.

Good basic place to stay in Lisbon! Great location at the top of a steep hill like everywhere, very close to fun neighbourhoods and sights. Amazing view. Maria was really responsive and helpful. If you’re sensitive to heat and visiting in summer, be warned that many of the rooms get really hot (my room on the second floor east facing was reallyyy hot). It was a heat wave and Maria was super helpful and arranged a fan for me as there wasn’t one, but fyi!

My room on the 2nd floor indeed had a stunning view over Lisbon. I woke up to sunshine and that amazing view in a very comfy bed everyday and was very happy about choosing this room out of all the other options available. As mentioned in other reviews before and explained in the listing: There's only one little bathroom with a toilet on the corridor and the showers are on the ground floor. For me, that was totally fine. I never had to wait to shower, and walking downstairs was no problem at all (for me). It's an old, charming building, so of course the walls and doors are thin and the floors are creaking. Again: I read that beforehand, so it wasn't a surprise and didn't bother me. Besides, the other guests on my floor were very respectful and quiet. I had some problems with the lock at the front door. It always needed some extra care, so don't worry about not getting inside. It works, you just have to move it a little back and forth. Check-in, by the way, was super easy and absolutely flexible - as was check-out. As it is important to many (including me): the WiFi signal in my room was very good. :) Only critic I have: The kitchen on the 2nd floor is barely equipped, my space in the fridge wasn't free, so I took another one, hoping not to bother anyone, and the sponge to wash your dishes has seen more dirty plates than me. ;) It could be taken more care of the kitchen upstairs, so that it could be of better use for the whole floor. Something I want to mention, although it has nothing to do with that lovely palace: I'm a female solo traveller and felt a bit uncomfortable and insecure in some streets of the direct neighborhood, especially in the evenings. This would be the only reason, why I would choose another location for a next visit. Nothing to do with Maria's awesome palace.
