Simone’s place was great! The location and views are spectacular. It is a great starting point for exploring Tuscany by car. Beware that most restaurants are closed on Monday. We went to the Coop in Montelupo and bought supplies to cook dinner in our room. Eating dinner on the patio was a real treat! Cell service is a bit sketchy, so make sure and download the maps to your phone locally. We had a great dinner at the restaurant. Had a great opportunity to practice our Italian with our non-English speaking server! (Don’t worry, there are always people around that speak English if you need it.) We had way too much Bisteca Fiorentina. Delicious. The wines are also quite tasty and inexpensive. Depending on what time of year you go, there will be different ones available. The Chianti was the red available when we were there and it was so good. I bought an extra bottle to bring to my room for the next day.

The outdoor space pictured for this accomodation was not the actual accomodation. The pictures give it an appearance of being private, however this unit was in between 5 and had neighbours on both sides. The wifi does not work inside the unit, something known to the management as we were told at check in to go to an area away from our unit to get it to work. The beds were so uncomfortable we could not sleep. No blankets were provided, only a sheet. The small kitchen is equipped for some cooking, however when we asked for dish washing liquid we were told it was an extra charge. One of the restaurant staff was nice enough to give us some in a bowel, and some extra sheets. The unit is quite run down. There are holes in the walls, one of the air conditioners doesn’t work. No information was provided at check in, so when we attempted to go to the restaurant for dinner one night we were disappointed to find it closed. The other nights we went there, the food was excellent, however book early as it can fill up. We ended up leaving a night early of our stay as we couldn’t take another night of not being able to sleep.
