Very private and peaceful, the house was a great place for us three and a small dog. The large yard and porch were a huge plus! One of the only downfalls were I thought it was a bit dirty. The floors were super dusty/dirty prior to our arrival. The toilets weren’t clean, there were dead bugs behind the nightstand, and a lot of the kitchen tools had a thin layer of grease on them from prior people cooking near the stove. I didn’t get the sense that the blankets on the couches were washed either, just folded on the couch after the guests before us. That being said the linens felt clean and the counters and inside the fridge were fine! We spent a lot of time at the cabin cooking and hanging out - but this cabin is further away from the rest of Heber-Overgaard with the nearest place being a gas station. You’d have to drive 10-20 minutes in to town for the restaurants, parks, and things to do in town.
Clean, great backyard for dogs. Peaceful area and cool wildlife just outside the backyard. Convenient to the town and restaurants.
We have stayed at several places in the Heber Overgaard area over the last few years, but High Country Escape was by far the best. The cabin, by design, was exactly what we were looking for, but the location made it perfect. We had everything we needed. Backing up to the forest gave us the privacy and feeling of seclusion we wanted. The fenced in back yard enabled our two dogs to be outside, which they love, without concern for their whereabouts. And yes, you do see wildlife from the deck. All in all, a fun getaway with great accommodations.
This property is beautiful! The location backing up to the National forest was exactly what we needed to relaxed and reset. Some beautiful hiking in the area as well. We brought our furry companion along, and the fenced backyard was perfect for her to explore and romp. The host stayed in constant contact to make sure our needs were met. Wonderful Experience, we hope to return soon.
