Jumbay House is surrounded by views of the ocean, cool breezes, birdsong and blue skies. Decompress in this delightful hilltop home and enjoy Eleuthera's unique natural environment. The property comprises a two-bedroom house which sits atop one of the highest points on the Island with wonderful views. It is close to the water, walking distance to Smuggler's Beach and a 3 minute drive to Rainbow Bay Beach. There is a one-bedroom apartment behind the house which can be rented separately. The main house has two bedrooms: a king-sized bed with ensuite bathroom and views of the ocean, the second bedroom has two twin beds, ensuite bathroom and ocean view. There is a queen-sized sofa bed in the sitting room. There is a fully equipped kitchen and inside and outside dining areas, a front and back terrace both with ocean views. There is a laundry room with a washing machine. There is a very good washing line in the garden with pegs and laundry baskets. There is also a retractable indoor line. We live very close to nature in Eleuthera and do our best to live in harmony with the environment. THERE IS NO DRYER. The house is equipped with 2 light, portable beach chairs, 2 beach loungers, a beach umbrella, a cooler and a backpack cooler for taking drinks and picnics to the beach. There is an outdoor shower with hot and cold water The host stays in the house next door for 6 months over the winter months.

The best!!! Ruth's Jumbay was extremely clean, comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. She also had the nicest linens and provided beach essentials like beach towels, beach chairs, and cooler. She (and her husband) were so welcoming and helpful with providing us info as to where to go for beaches, restaurants and food shopping. Lovely people and lovely hosts! What more could you ask for on vacation?!
We had an incredible stay in Eleuthera at the Jumbay Cottage! Ruth and Craig are wonderful hosts and very friendly! The house had everything we needed and the bedding/linens/towels were comfortable. WiFi worked great and the house was easy to find in Rainbow Bay. There are beach towels and chairs to use. We loved the location of the house and hope to visit Eleuthera again in the future! Ruth provided a great list of recommendations for restaurants, beaches, etc. that was very helpful!
Ruth and Craig’s Junbay cottage is a wonderful clean classic bohemian with also a classic New England style, which makes it wonderful. ( great taste) The beds were comfortable with fresh high quality linens and towels. The location of the cottage is in the middle of the island where it was easy to travel North and also easy to travel South we saw the whole island which was very special to us. Ruth and Craig are very special people -classy and sophisticated couple enjoying Eleauthra’s best. Thank you for letting us stay another night:) We definitely will be back!!
This place deserves its 5 stars. Beautiful and spacious. Ruth is very responsive and helpful. Great to have a washing machine and freshly dried clothes from the large line outside. Nice linens and plush towels. Found Rainbow Bay Beach the last day we were there. 5 minute drive away. Beautiful! There are beach chairs and snorkeling gear for you if you'd like to use them. The only negative was the poor wifi but I understand Ruth is in the process of having Starlink installed. Great time! Thank you Ruth and Craig!
Ruth’s place felt like you were at home. Very clean, spacious house. She was very responsive to all the questions I had. I would definitely stay in this Bnb if I were to come back. Thank you again Ruth for an amazing stay!

Rainbow Bay
To fly to Eleuthera from the USA, you can fly to Nassau then continue on Pineapple Air or Bahamas Air to Governor's Harbour Airport, which is 20 minutes drive from Jumbay. To fly from the UK, there are nonstop flights from London to Nassau. If you feel more adventurous, you can take a Fast Ferry (2 1/2 hours) from Nassau to Harbour Island or Spanish Wells, then a 15 minute water taxi ride to Eleuthera main Island. You will need to rent a car - preferably an SUV to reach all the out-of-the-way beaches! We recommend Keane Stubbs in James Cistern. He can meet you at the airport or the water taxi dock.

My husband is Bahamian and I grew up in Nassau. We now live in Eleuthera during the winter and spend summers in Massachusetts near my children and grandchildren. I was in the book business for most of my working life but spent the 10 years before I retired as a wedding florist in the UK specializing in locally-grown, seasonal flowers. My husband is an Actor. He has been going to Eleuthera (his grandfather was from Current) since he was a small boy. It is one of our favorite places in the world and we feel very privileged to be able to spend time there and we love to share it.
