A friendly but quiet, well kept village with a small grocery shop with post office.The Odd Wheel Pub and a hairdressers.
The house is located on a road heading towards the beach where there is the Old Mill Cafe who serve warm food and drinks at a very reasonable price, but opening days and times are seasonal. The National Trust Marine Centre who run very informative Marine Identification Courses and Wembury Bay Riding School which runs throughout the year. The horses from the stables live in the field directly behind the house. They often walk past the house on the road also when giving lessons. There is also in the centre of the Village, a well kept children's park with a basketball/football area and tennis courts which are surrounded by a large grassed area for running/walking/dog ball activity.
It is a great place for hiking/walking. You can walk the coast path in either direction, left towards Noss Mayo, Salcombe which is also a place of outstanding natural beauty or walk to the right towards Heybrook Bay and onto Plymouth or Cornwall.
The rocky cliffs are home to nesting seabirds and the rocky shore, slate reefs and massive wave-cut platforms provide one the best spots for marine life. Wembury is also known for its surf, sailing, paddle boarding, rock pooling and snorkelling. It is a truly special place. A wonderful place to write, draw or paint.

The Village itself is small and easy to walk around. There is a lot of off street parking and free parking at the park and shop. The car park at the beach is a NationalTrust Car Park that you can pay and display or it is free for National Trust Members. The beach is only a 10 minute walk from the house. There is an hourly bus Number 48 that stops just outside the house which you can get on to go to Plymstock which has a Lidl, Iceland, Boots, Peacocks, a butchers , a library and lots of other shops which is a 10 minute bus journey or drive. Plymouth Hoe, The Barbican, The Mayflower Steps Memorial, Boat trips, Fishing Trips, The Aquarium, Plymouth Sound, Smeatons Tower, Plymouth Gin Distillery, Dartmoor Zoo, Plymouth Snowsports Centre, Tinside Lido is an art deco saltwater pool with incredible views. The Theatre Royal, Central Park, Royal William Yard for premiere dining, Plymouth Pavillions, Mayflower Museum, and the whole City Centre is only a 20 minute drive away (7 mies). There is a wonderful Christmas Market every year with plenty of other well know shops.
There is SO much to do in Plymouth and surrounding areas. Salcombe is only a 46 minute drive (23 miles). Bovisand Beach is a 15 minute drive. Bantham Estate, famous for its wave break is 41 minutes away (19 miles). If you are Arty then Totness is a must on a Friday 40 minute drive (24 miles) and Dartington Cider Press Centre 39 min drive (26 miles).
You can walk from the Bay on the coast path to Heybrook Bay in 1 hour (2.9 miles). The Eddystone inn overlooks the sea and the food is not only reasonable but really good. Its advisable to book as it can get busy particularly for their Sunday Roast. They cater well for Vegans too.
