Puerto Viejo de Talamanca is a charming, small coastal town located in the South Caribbean region of Costa Rica. The laid-back atmosphere and friendly locals make for a welcoming experience. The area boasts excellent surfing spots, and when the waves are calm, diving enthusiasts will be delighted to explore one of the last remaining coral reefs in Costa Rica, featuring a colorful underwater world. The sandy beaches in the South Caribbean are pristine, offering plenty of shady spots to relax, while the lush green vegetation that surrounds the area maintains its beauty throughout the year. Our vacation home is located in the residential neighborhood of Playa Negra, which is part of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. The beautiful Caribbean beaches are just a 5-minute walk away, and a scenic 25-minute walk along the beach will take you to the center of Puerto Viejo (5 minutes by car).

Transportation options are plentiful in the area. You can explore by renting a bike from the nearby rental shop Banana Bike Rentals or opt for scooter and car rentals available in Puerto Viejo for a more extensive tour. If you prefer public transportation, there is a public bus stop located 1km away from our home, with buses heading in both directions of the main road. Taxis and tuk-tuks are also convenient and readily available options for getting around Puerto Viejo and the surrounding area. For those arriving by car, our fully fenced property provides ample private parking space.
