This house is full of light and spirit with 120 years of style layered in. Decorated with local art, a magical porch, pepper-lights and teak counters, and a back yard that's an enchanted private garden. Fully stocked kitchen, linens, soap, toiletries. Three desks ready for remote work. Bathtub and folding crib. Located in a charming neighborhood, only a few blocks from USD, the pool, and downtown Vermillion. This a perfect place for a romantic getaway, family vacation, or a weekend with friends. Crossing the hedge by the garage, the backyard is half jungle, half English garden. Through the back door, there is a small coat room, where guests leave their coat and shoes. The coat room opens into the kitchen. It's a classic design, with a large pantry, enameled sink and table, and a drawer with dinner plans written inside from 1941. The kitchen sink looks out over the birds and squirrels in the garden. The classic style is updated with new teak countertops and a dishwasher. The kitchen should have everything you need to cook a dinner for ten friends. Pots and pans, dishes, and silverware, and even some spices are all provided. Plastic cups and plates are included for the kids. South of the kitchen is the kids bedroom. A bunk bed has a full-sized bottom bunk and a single sized top bunk. Two south-facing windows dominate the room, flooding it with light in the winter. On the other end of the room, a little desk and art supplies, with a window facing the garden. To the North of the kitchen is the main bedroom. This room has a soft, clean order to it. A padded chair awaits beside the window. A walk-in closet can hold all your clothes and treasure. Fairy lights adorn the delicate, wrought steel bed frame and can be adjusted from a remote control beside the bed. Inside the closet, there is a folding crib that can be assembled anywhere in the house. East of the main bedroom is the bathroom. A cedar-trimmed shower inside the tub, and a low-flush toilet accented by pink and white and black tiles. Towels and toiletries are provided. The shower/tub combo was recently renovated, so it's fresh but still great for baths for the kids. On the East side of the kitchen is the dining room. Seating for 8 at the dinner table, a gentle recliner looking out over the hedges to the sidewalk and street. A piano rests against the wall, beckoning to test your middle school lessons. The bluetooth speaker can stay there or be moved to another room. North of the dining room is the Rose room, a bedroom with a full sized bed, a small desk, and a giant rose. Fairy lights around the rose can be adjusted from a remote beside the bed. To the east of the dining room is the living room. There you’ll find the only TV in the house. The TV has Roku so that you can access any accounts like Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max, Apple TV, etc. A gas fireplace beautifully warms the room in the cold months. Local art adorns the walls. A large, comfy couch and two soft chairs invite guests to relax. On the far side of the living room, a large, antique desk is ready for work or study. Beside the desk are two well-appointed book-shelves filled with quality reading from Vermillion, South Dakota, and the world. On the east side of the living room is the front entry. You will not have a key to the front entry, so you can just leave the door locked or unlocked, as you prefer. Out the front door is the porch. Once, the porch was screened in, but the screens blocked so much light that we removed them. Now, there are screen curtains, which you can let down if you want a little protection from bugs, or a little privacy. Enjoy!
