I just got done hosting a Yoga retreat and was looking for some Me time. I saw a previous review about a problem with the smell. I was really nervous as I needed some rest.. but when i got in.. no smell! Nothing from the previous review! I got in early and easy. The house is about a 5 minute walk to restaurants/mini super (little grocery store) and about 10 minutes to the beach

I hate writing something negative but felt it was necessary for other guests. The location is amazing and the host is responsive, and it’s a great deal for the area. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to stay as I have asthma (though relatively light) and as soon as I walked into the room knew something wasn’t right by the moldy smell. Sure enough on one side of the room there was visible green mold growing on the walls and in the light fixtures, and probably other places I couldn’t see. If mold doesn’t bother you then this place is a deal in a fantastic location. If smells or mold or allergies are an issue, I would definitely not recommend this spot. The host does have a generous cancellation policy compared to others but I only got about 30% back once I got there and realized it wouldn’t work for me (within 5 minutes it agitated my lungs). I’m leaving this review so that if other have similar challenges they aren’t out most of their booking if they can’t stay for health reasons.

I had a lovely stay at this spacious and private studio. The sweet doggys greeted me and I felt safe from the local monkeys! Donald’s home is unique and grand feeling. Unlike many of the newer places in Nosara I would say this property has a lot of character. Surrounded by antique furnishings and touches of vintage decor, I fell asleep in a comfy bed after a good shower, imagining the lord of the manor writing a great novel as music from a record on a gramophone could be heard faintly from the big house. Meanwhile back in 2023 the a/c worked great and the location can’t be beat. What this studio may lack in modernity it makes up for in space and closeness to all the happenings on ‘Iguana street’.
