It's ideal for those seeking tranquility, super privacy and countryside ambiance in a traditional riverside Balinese village.
This area is sufficiently distant from any urban areas to retain the unspoiled culture of Bali's central hills & riverland rural communities. Nonetheless a pleasant, scenic, 25-minute drive leads one to Ubud town's upmarket boutiques, top restaurants and major supermarkets.
The location is in Bongkasa Pertiwi village on the west bank of the Ayung River. This is directly across the river from the east bank's Kedewetan village in Gianyar Regency's Ubud district.
Tropical green jungle and river scenery is abundant and a magnet for a wide range of traveller. activities. Many of Bali's whitewater rafting and the original scenic swings are located in the village.
A little away from its riverside areas Bongkasa has extensive picturesque ricefield panoramas leading out to a background of the island's central mountains. Excellent paved walking paths and cycling tracks are threaded through the fields.
Separately and 5 minutes north of the village, in a more densely jungled locale, are Bali's quadbike scenic tracks and pathways. An associated Paintball activity forms part of the complex.

The Ubud town environs are nowadays heavily impacted by traffic gridlocks caused mainly by overloaded road junctions. These junctions are as well in the worst cases interlocked with others that are only a short distance further down the road.
With no under or overpasses, all turning traffic must do so by halting oncoming vehicles from the opposite direction. The narrow roads worsen things by allowing only a single stream of vehicles in either direction; a car waiting to turn holds up all traffic behind it.
Starting in early mid morning from the town center, a series of gridlocks radiate progressively ever outward throughout the day. Downtown is firstly encircled and then surrounding roads & districts. Drivers trying to avoid these traffic blocks quickly spread the contagion further afield. This can still prevail through to mid evening.
Downtown traffic movement is frequently well below walking pace; a frustrating and time consuming experience. It is best to leave your vehicle well outside of the town & move around on foot.
Oddly enough, walking is by far the best way of enjoying Ubud town. It's famed allure was certainly not derived from driving in a motor vehicle around that begiiling maze of temples, palaces, art galleries, eateries & alley like streets.
Our countryside located guests are well beyond any urban traffic issues. They do have unrestricted & community condoned access to Bali's owner driver Grab car & Gojek motor cycle services . These operate throughout the day & evening and are an excellent and efficient means of on demand transport to Ubud town & elsewhere.
Full day & longer car rentals are also readily available in the vicinity and rates are at competitive levels. Several owner operators are resident in the village.
Bongkasa, as well as being comfortably beyond the widest radiation extent of the Ubud gridlocks, is very central on the island. This makes a great base for exploring all of Bali.
