Hálsakot is a small cozy oasis in one of the most popular vacation region in Iceland - "the golden circle". Many of the well-known and most popular destinations in Iceland can be reached from Hálskot as a day trip:
- Gullfoss - the" golden waterfall". One of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland and regularly a part of lists of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world.
- Geysir - probably the most famous hot spring in the world and namesake of all other geysers.
- Laugavatn - A picturesque lake with impressive atmosphere with bubbling mud pits and geothermal hot springs.
- Þingvellir - a historical site famous for the Althing and a national park in a rift valley created by the drifting apart of two tectonic plates.
- Þjórsárdalur - a breathtakingly beautiful place hidden in the highlands.
- Landmannalaugar - a geothermal oasis in the middle of remote tundra in the heart of Iceland - the highlands. Remarkably colorful mountains frame the valley of Landmannalaugar. The many colors of the slopes form an extraordinary contrast to the glittering obsidian lava fields.

- Reykjavík - Can be reached in less than two hours. Ideal for a day trip.
