A great place to stay when planning on skiing and visiting the surrounding areas.

This home was incredible, until things started going wrong. The house is very close to Palisades Olympic Valley ski resort. The three floor home is luxurious and large. But when we had a fire incident (light fixture exploded) and a flood incident (clothes washing started leaking everywhere), the remote Vacasa service was absolutely incompetent in their response. They never actually sent anyone to the home to fix the problems despite a dozen calls/texts on our side. We fixed the issues ourselves! Also, although there was a shuttle to the ski resort, the rush hour wait times made it unusable. We had numerous instances of 90+ minute wait times, which made it worthless when traveling with 3 kids. We wish there was a way to contact the actual owners and inform them of how terrible Vacasa is at managing their property. In closing, even though we were grateful for the experience, we would never stay at this home again.

A/C was not working and would not cool the house down. We were told there were spare fans in closets though there weren’t any to be found. The trash bin was full when we arrived so we had to take all trash with us. Besides that the house was great.

Unfortunately our experience at this listing was tumultuous and Vacasa was difficult to work with. We will be requesting a refund from AirBnB. First, the pros: the house is lovely and very spacious! It was also very clean. The location is great, it’s easy to get to Olympic Village and Lake Tahoe. It was also great to have two indoor parking spots in the garage. The size was perfect for 6 adults and 5 children. The cons: - There was no manual or guidebook, so we had to comb through disparate emails that were sent from either AirBnb or Vacasa and try to find information, but there was very little. For example, there were no check out instructions or instructions about how to use the AC. - The door to the deck doesn’t lock, which was terrifying since we had kids with us. - The bedrooms on the main floor didn’t have screens in the windows. With little kids, we didn’t want to open them without screens, so it was very hot in those rooms. - The drain was clogged in both the sink and shower in the bedroom with an en-suite bathroom on the main floor. - When we arrived, it was 83 degrees inside the house and the sun was beating in the windows on the main floor. We turned on the AC via the thermostat and closed the blinds and curtains to try to cool down the house, but it continued to get hotter as the day progressed. We also later saw a sentence in one email asking us not to close the blinds or curtains on the main floor… which makes no sense when it’s hot out and wasn’t labeled in the house itself. - The AC never seemed to work, we only felt a trickle of cool air coming in through the vents. We called Vacasa about it a couple of times and they were rude and not helpful. First they told us that the home doesn’t have AC, then they said that it does after all and they’d send a maintenance person, then they called back and said it doesn’t have AC. We gave up. The following day they called us and said that the AC does work, and it must have just “not been working to our liking” (the home was 80 degrees despite being set to cool to 68) and we should set up the box fans in the closets. We looked everywhere and never found the box fans. - On the second day of our stay, we heard a beeping coming from a water heater downstairs. I called Vacasa and they said they’d send someone to look at it, that I’d hear back in 15 minutes. When I didn’t hear back, I called again, and the contact person told us to “grab every living thing that we love and get out of the house immediately” because it could be a gas issue. We panicked and evacuated, around 6pm with 5 children under the age of 6. Vacasa said someone would be in touch with me within 10 minutes. 45 minutes later, we hadn’t heard anything so we called back. They were very rude and told us “the maintenance guy must have come while we were gone” and “they couldn’t have predicted this.” We asked for a diagnosis. The maintenance guy called back and said that he would need a plumber to take a look, but he thought everything was fine. We were terrified still! We spent about 2 hours calling the gas company, a propane company and hot water heater experts before we felt safe returning to the home. Vacasa acted like we were crazy for being nervous, despite them being the ones to raise the concern. While the home itself was beautiful, I would not work with Vacasa again.
