Come, visit the beautiful Colorado mountains, and let your mind enjoy a trip back in time with the stories, results, and photos of those who homesteaded here. Shady Grove is the place to find a bit of nostalgia whether you are here for business or pleasure. We have several rooming options for you. We offer short-term rental options at this time. In the past, we have had some guests extend their stay over two years! Are you looking for a private vacation? The home may sometimes be booked for the price of seven guests. The beautifully decorated master bedroom within the house is available rarely through special requests. The upstairs rooms and downstairs couch can sometimes be rented separately or together. Laundry and kitchen are accessible with some room bookings sometimes. The majority of the house is available when you choose one room in the house for one person. Large dining room table for guest's family and friends available by reservation. The quaint 1914 homestead cottage can sometimes be booked. This is the homestead of the first family that lived here while they were building the main farmhouse called Shady Grove. We can accommodate places to park a car or large trucks even semi truck sized if you want to pull off in a safe area to sleep or park a big rig and travel with a smaller vehicle into the Colorado Mountains. We offer unique options not listed in the boxes that Airbnb offers. Please contact me if you have any questions. I am aspiring to be a stay at home Grandmama through serving Airbnb guests. My husband is officially retired. My husband and I are part of the Simpich Character Doll family. The artwork my husband, his family, and I helped to create over the years will be on display. We also love music! My husband plays banjo, guitar, fiddle, and harmonica, and I play the gut bucket bass. We have played professionally as the Cherry Creek Pickers. With a little encouragement, we might share some special music for you or bring your instruments and join us.  We enjoyed being wranglers and musicians at the Lost Valley Dude Ranch and the Singing Cowboy Ranch in Buena Vista. We have fixed up several old houses in the Colorado Springs and Cripple Creek area. My husband loves old trains and has all kinds of information in his head and in books about local historic trains. He also loves Jeeping, especially in 1940 era jeeps that he rescues. A tour of his garage is a highlight for some people. Airbnb experiences are not officially on our listings yet. We like the idea and have tried to fit a Simpich Jeeping experience into an Airbnb box. We took one couple to their wedding at the Broadmoor in an 1950 era Jeep Station Wagon. Help us design a trip and adventure experience that works for you. We took a couple from France to dinner in a 1940s jeep. We also took them to Buena Vista and mountain sights near there. We would like to consider creating a special experience designed to meet your needs. Recently we enjoyed horseback riding near Silverton, Ouray area via Action Adventure Rides and Jeeping into the Maroon Bells area and around Aspen with a guest from Switzerland and the new found privilege of our senior Golden Pass to drive there before sunrise and after sunset (before 8 a.m. and after 5p.m. actually) . We have many adventuresome stories to share with you. We have traveled around Colorado all of our lives. My motto for living is to enjoy life to its fullest. We hope you will experience that while staying in our Shady Grove home or anywhere on this State Historical Farmstead . We use some of the funds from hosting stays to keep and improve this State Historical Farmstead (now ready for National Historic Registry since thanks to guests, hail storms and insurance the wooden siding underneath has been rescued!) A small portion of your funds might also helps us to enlarge the farmstead garden project as we are now trying to plant something in honor of each guest that comes to stay so that it will be a farm with gardens that others can enjoy in the future. In 2023, we are starting to plant over one dozen living Christmas pine trees. Thanks in large part to guests for getting to grow all kinds of things on the farm as it is guests that are helping to pay the increasing utility bills for that! A small portion of what guests spend staying with us is given to help people in emergency situations find housing. Over the years, that has added up to hundreds of dollars being given to help others, including some of those escaping Ukraine. We look forward to meeting your needs as you begin your adventure in picturesque Colorado. Our favorite destinations are to be with our kids and grandkids. That has recently taken us to Canada, Ouray, CO, Crystal, CO, Alaska, California, and the Denver Museum of Science and Natural History. We love coming home here! Favorite foods: Cookstove stew and biscuits. Chick-fil-A super foods and chicken. Homemade oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies with ice cream and hot fudge. Fargos Pizza is a local favorite! They also have hot fudge sundaes. Our newest favorite restaurant is Fountain Creek Winery, with delicious beef sandwhiches starting at $15. The lemon cake is worth the splurge and so large we shared it three ways. It is about one mile from our place. Carlos Miguel's, in Colorado Springs, is still a favorite thanks to a guest treating us to dinner there. Western Omlette is also a close place to get breakfast and lunch. The Pantry in Green Mt Falls is worth the pleasant drive up Ute Pass. People say it is like coming home or going to Grandmama's house to come stay with us. We look forward to sharing with you some of the abundances we have been given.
