Great place to stay in Portland just outside of downtown. This location was close to just about everything during my visit and had a very simple check in/check out process. Highly recommend staying here if you have an upcoming trip in the area

Felt much more communal, or hostel-like, than most Airbnbs, which I enjoyed. You have the freedom to check yourself in and out and hole up in your room if you like, but you can also share space with friendly humans if you want! Probably not for those who want absolute quiet and privacy, but for those who want a warm and unique experience and the chance to meet new people and enjoy beautiful and quirky artistry, this is wonderful!

My name is Evan. I'm a native Portlander who has lived, worked and traveled elsewhere but now feel fortunate to be living in my beautiful home town. I recently spent two years leading the complete renovation of this 1902-built house, and very much learning how to do it on the job. I enjoy playing music and going to local live shows, chatting on porches and taking walks in the neighborhood. I used to be a journalist and lived/worked as a writer in Lima, Peru several years ago. Now, running 1234 House is my primary focus.
