I stayed for one month in June 2022. Noelle was unable to meet me, so I waited two hours for another guest to give me my keys. She gave me a different room to the one that I reserved. I asked for the room that I had paid for (a desk at a window), she declined without apology, but said that I could have one of the other rooms when they were vacated. Upon arrival, people were blaring loud music and running around in the hallway outside my door and in the kitchen, and congregating in the garden outside my window, loud enough to drown out the headphones that I use to make sure that I don't bother anyone myself. It would have been intolerable for work, so I immediately reported to Noelle that the residence was not "serene" as described, and asked if she would be willing to cancel and refund the remainder of my stay so that I could book a different Airbnb. Her response was that I should expect an inferior experience for such a low price and that she didn't know how to perform a refund. So I contacted Airbnb and they began working to arrange a replacement property for me. At 2130, the noise finally abated, only to resume at 0400 (on a Wednesday morning) when two of the guests woke me as they ate in the kitchen. The next day, the guests blamed the commotion on one man and his friends who was leaving in a couple of days, claiming that other people had complained about him (I later learned that it was his accuser who was the culprit). I asked Noelle if this were true, in which case I would tolerate it until he left, but if not I would speak with him. Instead, she sent a message to the other guests telling them to be quiet, and in later days, when a new guest arrived she stood outside my door and mocked me by whispering that he would need to be completely silent around me because I was an exaggerator. However, her warnings to the other guests actually worked, and the place was calm enough once the bad guest was reined in, so I told Airbnb that I was willing to stay. A few days later, Noelle sent me a message demanding that my room be ready for a viewing by potential clients. I reminded her that, per the Airbnb rules, she was not allowed to just enter my room whenever she wanted, but that I would be willing to allow her to do so if she simply asked me. She said that she was not going to ask permission to enter her own property. The building was a badly refurbished large house with six rented rooms, flexing floorboards, leaking shower cubicles, etc. The kitchen looks good in the photos but doesn't contain a single chopping knife for example. Noelle's parents occasionally came to launder the bedding of a departed guest, but only cleaned the bathroom once in the five weeks that I was there, and left month-old milk from previous guests in the fridge, etc. The washing machine was broken during my stay, but to her credit, Noelle hired a repairman and eventually replaced the machine. My room had a view of the steeple of the Church of Saint-Paul (whose bells would sound at bizarre times, such as 1026 on a Monday morning). My room overlooked a bakery next door, which had the upside of the smell of freshly-baked bread in the mornings, but the downside of hearing their industrial coolers buzzing all night and their 0500 start of work. I had to close my balcony door to stop the smoke from smokers and barbecue in the garden below entering my room. This was the first Airbnb that I've visited where toilet paper was not provided, and the nearest store closes at 19h30, so be prepared. The location is on a main road, 2km from the city centre, with a supermarket across the road. Running is popular here, and I would go down shady Cours Général de Gaulle, around Colombière Park, then either south along the riverbank or north along the canal. Wifi speed test returned 60 Mbps down, 60 Mbps up, but we experienced up to hour-long losses of service during my stay, and streaming video specifically was throttled so it was not possible to watch any Netflix/YouTube/etc (unless you downloaded for offline viewing, which didn't count as streaming so worked at full speed). Individually, each of the inconveniences that I encountered were fairly petty, but in aggregate it was an unpleasant stay, so I would not go again.
Colocation conviviale et sympathique. Idéale pour les étudiants. Noellie est très réactive
