Sousa's father greeted us. He was very nice and gave us great recommendations to local shoppes and one of the best restaurants on our trip. For some reason, we thought we were staying closer to Nazare. It is not close. That would have made the pool important to us, but with the amount of broken and missing tiles, it made it unable to safely swim in.

Sousa's home was a great choice for our family vacation to Alcobaça! We loved the view of the monastery and the spacious home. The house is tastefully decorated, and the hosts are very friendly. We felt safe and comfortable and loved walking to town every day for coffee and exploring. This is a great choice for a stay in Alcobaça!

What an amazing Airbnb this was. We absolutely adored being here. Carlos and Marissa are just the sweetest and most caring hosts we have come across. The welcome gift of wine and delicacies were definitely well received. As we stayed here for 4 month we were treated to more wine and Portuguese tarts from time to time. The Portuguese tarts are award winning too! The house is immense, much bigger than anticipated and the views....well the photos really don't do it justice. Stuuuuuuuunning! It only takes about 5 minutes by foot to get to all the bars, cafes, restaurants, shops and market. The people are extremely friendly, and we chatted a lot to the neighbours in the street. We were fortunate to be able to come with our 3 cats and dog. We took Cassie, our dog, for walks up the road which leads to Oak lined country paths up to a nearby farm with lots of goats, sheep and peacocks. Also there is so much other wildlife; red squirrels, pheasants and birds of prey. We were truly in our element here. The best of both worlds, town and country, as well as friendly hosts who were private but did anything to help whenever we needed something. Thank you Carlos and Marissa for looking after us and allowing us to stay in your gorgeous home! :)

We had a lovely holiday at Sousa's house. The location was perfect and the view, overlooking the Monastery was amazing. A perfect place to BBQ and have a sundowner. The pool was a delight and our miniature Dachshund, Pablo, has a fantastic time. Sousa and his wife were very welcoming. Due to Covid, we had to change our travel arrangements on several occasions and it was never a problem for Sousa to modify the booking. The house was very spacious and comfortable and within easy walking distance to Alcobaça city centre. On your way down to town, you will probably have a lovely chat with Dona Rosaria, a real character. Alcobaça itself is very well located with easy access to some stunning beaches and historical attractions. The well maintained roads in Portugal make it very easy to access any of the local attractions. But don't be afraid to leave the beaten track, you might find a delight!
