Villa Rinaldi, just a few kilometres from the centre of Siena, is immersed in the green of the centuries-old trees of the Montagnola Senese Park, an authentic green lung considered a "Site of Community Importance" by virtue of the geological and botanical heritage that characterises it. The villa is located along a residential road in the small borgo of Santa Colomba, dominated by a 14th century castle-fortress and a small church, originally a watchtower, adorned with frescoes by Duccio da Buoninsegna. It occupies the ground floor of an elegant building, lovingly renovated by the current owners who live there (with discretion on the upper floor) only for short periods. Three large, elegant bedrooms with private bathroom and air conditioning, a cosy open-plan dining room and kitchen and an elegant sitting room that opens onto the fully-equipped garden, add value to the structure which is surrounded by a wonderful park immersed in the quiet of a wood of holm oaks, oaks and chestnut trees in the background. Walking in the undergrowth around the villa, you encounter an enchanted nature made up of strawberry trees, cyclamen and honeysuckle where you can stop and admire the landscape that stretches up to the towers of Siena. Villa Rinaldi is the deal place for those who want to spend a holiday dedicated to eco-sustainable tourism where nature is the protagonist. The Montagnola area, in fact, with its marked CAI (Club Alpino Italiano) trails and gentle hills is ideal for hikers, for those who love trekking or simply strolling around, enjoying the unspoiled nature and immersing themselves in the history, art and culture of the territory. It is also an incredible concentration of castles (Monteriggioni, Chiocciola, Celsa), churches and hermitages of rare beauty that can often be reached on foot (San Leonardo al Lago, Lecceto), testifying to the thousand routes that were part of the Via Francigena, still travelled today. Interior: Villa Rinaldi is on the ground floor of the building and the main entrance, located on the side of the building, goes into an elegant hallway which leads, on the right, into the large living room with study corner and direct exit out to the garden and, on the left, to the kitchen and dining room. The sleeping area consists of a double bedroom (with divisible beds) with ensuite bathroom with tub, and two twin bedrooms (with joinable beds), both with ensuite bathroom with shower. The apartment is completed by the laundry room. Air conditioning in the bedrooms.
This was the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. We were a group of 6 with a 7 and 4 yr old. We were welcomed with a fully stocked kitchen of fresh fruit, vegetables, bread, cheese, eggs, milk, pasta, snacks and wine! The home was super clean with all the amenities we needed. The air conditioners worked very well in the bedrooms. Even though it was hot while we were there, the home stayed comfortable and we only used the air conditioners at night. The pool and grounds were exquisite. It was a very park like setting with beautiful flowers, an herb and vegetable garden and lots of shade! The owners were so friendly and accommodating and throughout our 5 day stay presented us with gifts of wine and desserts. We would definitely stay there again!
This is simply a fabulous house. It is actually more beautiful than the pictures! Every detail of our stay was perfect and extremely well thought out. Our hosts were very friendly and extremely responsive. We were a family of 4 and we had more than enough room. The grounds and pool area were beautiful and peaceful. The kitchen was fully stocked and we were able to cook many meals. Each of the 3 bedrooms has its own bathroom. There is also a large dining room and an even bigger living room. We were able to do laundry. Very close to Siena. Hosts provided many wonderful suggestions for castles, restaurants and grocery stores. I would highly recommend this wonderful house!
Siena is located in the centre of Tuscany, between the valleys of the rivers Arbia, Merse and Elsa, immersed in the most typical of Tuscan landscapes defined by the gentle hills of Chianti to the north-east, by the Montagnola to the west (an authentic green lung, today a Site of Community Importance due to its natural and artistic peculiarities) and by the Crete Senesi to the south-east. It can be easily reached both from the south (from the Valdichiana exit on the A1 motorway and then along the Bettolle-Siena highway) and from the north, or from the airports (from the Firenze Impruneta exit on the A1 motorway, and then along the Firenze-Siena highway). The immeasurable historical, artistic and landscape heritage makes Siena, capital of Gothic, a showpiece city whose historic centre is included among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, thanks to its perfect stylistic geometry, unique in its kind. Within the city walls is a real open-air museum, crossed by alleys and narrow streets, breathtaking views, hidden corners, wonderful gardens, ancient churches that house authentic works of art and splendid squares. The most famous, Piazza del Campo, dominates in the centre: made up of nine segments that give it its characteristic shell shape, it is the scenographic location that twice a year hosts the Palio horse race, the ancient competition that involves all the citizens, organised in 17 contrade (districts), each with their own coat-of-arms. On one side of the square is the majestic Palazzo Pubblico, current seat of the Municipality and the Civic Museum, which dominates the square softened by the elegance of the 87 metre-high Torre del Mangia, whose summit, reached by climbing over 400 steps, offers a panoramic viewpoint over the entire city. The Palazzo is one of the most important examples of Gothic architecture and a treasure trove of art masterpieces with its majestic rooms that can be visited, among which we would like to mention the Sala del Mappamondo, the Sala del Concistororo and the Sala della Pace with works by Duccio di Buoninsegna, Simone Martini, Lorenzetti. Moving along the three main streets of the city (Via di Città, Banchi di Sotto and Banchi di Sopra), full of beautiful buildings, shops and artisan workshops, you can visit the monumental Basilica of San Domenico or Palazzo Chigi Saracini, rich in history and home to the Accademia Musicale Chigiana, one of the most prestigious graduate schools in the world, and the Piazza del Duomo. Here, welcoming the visitor, is the recently restored, imposing 13th century façade. The floor of the Duomo (entirely uncovered and visible from mid-August to the end of October) is a “picture Bible” with 56 marble squares with inlays and graffiti executed between 1369 and 1547, following the design of great artists. Opposite is the old Hospital of Santa Maria della Scala, one of the oldest in Europe, built along the very important Via Francigena to assist pilgrims on their way to Rome and today transformed into a museum complex. In Siena, the handicrafts, gastronomy consisting of typical sweets, cheeses and salami, and fine wines are all excellent and bring a message of strong cultural and local tradition; here the food and wine stop is a must for the traveller to seal a souvenir of an unforgettable holiday.
