Amazing location, fantastic view from the little balcony. Essentially, that's what you pay for. Dimitris is a very kind and helpful host, he picked me up half way from the harbour and helped me with my luggage on his scooter. He also let me use the room past check out time. Overall, I'd say 'fairly cheap and very cheerful'. The room is very small and quite tacky. The place in in need of some serious renovation. You can see it's been painted over old staines and rust. Overall cleanliness has plenty of room for improvement. Yellow bed linen and towels with some staines of dubious origin. The mattresses are flat and you can feel the springs when you lie down. The kitchen is tiny and facilities are very basic and shabby. It's got a stunning view and it's an easy walk from town. It's okay to stay for a couple of nights, I wouldn't stay a week there. The place has huge potential but it needs some TLC.
Gorgeous views, simple and no frills place. Very clean. Dimitris was very helpful and friendly and the location was great, right near the town for restaurants, shops etc. The shared kitchen is only for making coffee, Wi-Fi intermittent and the beds aren’t the most comfortable which only became a problem because I stayed for 10 days to work. The perfect place for weekend getaways and very good value for such a lovely island.
I will definitely not be staying there again. On arrival, the host informed us that there was no room available for us on the first night due to the previous gust falling ill. I was communicating with the host earlier during the day regarding the check-in time - he had not mentioned this issue. When we arrived at the property at 16:30, the host was rude to my boyfriend when he asked him to confirm in English that there was no room for us in order for me to understand. He left us sitting on the side of the street while he went to find us somewhere to stay. The host found a room after approximately 30 mins. Overall, his attitude was very poor. He was rude, and there was a lack of communication. He made us feel like it was an inconvenience to his to try to find us somewhere to stay. He did not apologise for the inconvenience this caused us and did not offer a refund.
The island took its current name from the Venetian era due to its many fragrant flowers (izola di spezzie, meaning the island of perfumes).
Spetses emerged as one of the most powerful naval and commercial forces in the Aegean, is famous for its significant contribution to the 1821 War of Independence.
In 1821, with the outbreak of the Greek War of Independence, many Spetses captains deposited their important naval force in the Struggle, the protagonist of which was Spetsiotis Kapitanianas Laskarina Bouboulina.
Of the most beautiful and most cosmopolitan islands of Argosaronic Sea.
The landmark of the city is the port of Dapia, with its famous square, a meeting place for residents and visitors. The imposing statue of Laskarina Bouboulina dominates the center of Poseidonos square. Chancelloria (Kagkellaria), located at the edge of the port of Dapia, has a long history. Prior to 1770 it served as a place of concentration of the island's notables, and later housed the Town Hall
Take a romantic trip around the island in horse-drawn carriages and admire the grand mansions adorning the narrow cobbled streets of the island. You can visit Spetses during September, when “Armata”, a truly impressive re-enactment of a naval battle takes place ever since 1931.

Sightseeing:
• The House of Bouboulina
Built around the end of the 17th Century, the building is shaped like a Π, a detail which at that time indicated the importance of the owner. Bouboulina was a heroine that played a significant role in the 1821 War of Independence. Visit her house, which now operates as a museum to admire its wood-carved Florentine ceiling, 18th and 19th century furniture, interesting collection of old weapons, fine porcelain and rare books.
• The House of Hatzigiannis Mexis
Today the house hosts a museum exhibiting relics from the War of Independence, letters written by war heroes like Kolokotronis and Athanasios Diakos, a folk art collection and the relics of Bouboulina. The house was built between 1795 and 1798, and was donated to the Greek state in 1938 by the heirs of the Mexis family. The objects on display represent more than 4,000 years of the island’s history.
• Church of Panayia Armata
This rural church was built between 1824 and 1830 to honour the victory of the Greek warriors against the Ottoman fleet.
• Cathedral of Ayios Nikolaos
The island's Cathedral is of great historical importance as it was here where the island's Independence flag was raised on 3rd April 1821. It was also here where the dead body of Paul Bonaparte, nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte who came to Greece to fight on the side of Greeks, was kept in a barrel of rum for three whole years!
Other sites worth a visit are: the War Memorial of the Spetses Navy, the Clock in Rologioú Square, and the Anargyreios Korgialeneios School. Situated in the area of Kounoupitsa, today it houses the Centre of Environmental Education.
