Beautiful redwoods. A nice combo of rustic camping and running water/bathroom/shower. There were lots of stars out at night, owls hooting and turkeys gobbling. There were also planes that passed overhead, so it didn’t feel as remote as it otherwise would have.

If you like camping, want to be in the redwoods, but have dogs, this is the perfect place! California apparently isn't always dog friendly when it comes to being in state parks, so this was a great substitute. Luckily, there are some nearby redwood parks which let you hike with your dogs. My wife and I came in on a Thursday and had no problem finding our campsite. The area was clean without any trash around and well groomed, ready for our tent. There is also a picnic table which we were happy to see because we didn't bring any chairs. We love falling asleep to hooting owls and wake up to squawking turkeys. Thursday the campground was relatively empty, but on Friday night it started to get pretty full, so expect a crowd on the weekend. Bathrooms (men's and women's) were easily accessible, but privacy in there could be better -- the doors/walls are makeshift from plywood. The only downside was that we couldn't have a campfire, but to preserve this beautiful plot of land, it is something we can do without. The whole area is one big loop where you can see lots of beautiful redwoods and pick wild growing blackberries. 10/10, would go again!
