It was a lovely quiet place to stay, but we were very unfortunate in that Jochen's house had a water leak right before we came. Jochen told us this even before we went there, asking us not to use the bath. What he hasn't told us is that the roof below the bath was severely affected. After he took a look at the state of the house and we heard water clattering the way we thought was strange when using the tap and shower, we decided to end our stay there and stay somewhere else. Jochen was very understanding about this and we agreed that he'd not have us pay for the days that we did not stay. Nevertheless, such bad luck can happen to everyone. Jochen was helpful, understanding and visibly sad about the situation. After our stay we stayed in touch for a bit and he's send me a picture of the roof being taken apart in order to fix the problem that he found (it was the bath indeed). The problem was indeed resolved, but of course staying in that place during such construction work was not feasible. Jochen understandably could not fix the problem during our stay. Anyway, the house itself was brilliant! It was clean, neat and I really loved the style of the house. The bed was very comfortable, sheets were very clean, the kitchen was very modern and had everything we need (apart from a Dutch cheese slicer, which to be honest we never see in any foreign country. I don't know how foreign people eat cheese). The TV was big and nice, the couch was comfortable, the environment was beautiful and close to Antwerpen. Unfortunately we did not visit Antwerpen due to the difficulties with the house itself, but we've seen many interesting things to do when we did some research. There are some very pretty castles and old towns nearby that we did visit and were worth their visit. The surroundings were nice and quiet, with hardly any traffic during the night and only some traffic during the day. There's a primary school nearby and sometimes you'd hear some kids shouting, but it's far enough not to be a nuisance. In fact, children playing makes for a nice and joyful background sound. For someone who really dislikes sounds when I want to relax, the sound of the kids was surprisingly relaxing to me simply because it wasn't too close. All in all, it was unfortunate that we (and Jochen) ran into this bad luck. We would have really enjoyed staying there if it wasn't for the leak. The leak is being fixed though, so that definitely should not keep anyone else from staying here once it's fixed. So to conclude, we look back upon our stay with mixed feelings. But what I can safely say, is that the place itself is a wonderful place to stay and has a wonderful environment. And I would definitely recommend staying here.

Super verblijf! Heel proper, mooi ingericht, alles aanwezig. We hebben genoten van ons verblijf bij deze host. Snelle reactie op een berichtje! Dikke aanrader dus.
