Had a great stay with Ikaika estates, and it was exactly how described! We were met by Sherlane and her husband as soon as we arrived. We were shown how to get everything up and running and nicely left to start enjoying what the property had to offer. Would definitely recommend this place and they have a cute cat! :)

Pros: New. Beautiful decor and touches like chandelier. Welcome basket & lovely snacks. We took them to dinner, enjoyed visiting and tried adapting to the inconsistent changing rules. For 7 weeks the rules changed daily and We feel future guests need to be aware of… Listing “Semi-Off Grid.” It’s completely off grid. No electricity or water without generator. We were limited to 30 minutes of generator twice a day preferably between 8-8. My husband left for work at 6. So no shower, water etc. limited times to flush toilet. Day of arrival was told no cooking inside. So we bought a grill. Then we had to be careful about not getting smoke in house. When gone, host would come in to open windows without approval or text daily to tell me to air out house, even when cold. We had to buy ice daily to keep food cold. Last straw was we were asked to drain toilet and use a bag for compost, eeew! She did refund remaining 9 days. REALITY: a fancy Camping Cabin with semi indoor plumbing.

What a wonderful host and lovely place–spotless and brand new!Everything was as described plus a whole lot more. Sherlane and her husband were super friendly and accommodating. Their place was very well situated for visiting many sites on the Big Island of Hawaii, especially Volcano National Park!

Detached, one bed-room, little house in a quite and peaceful location. The place was spotless and it felt as it had been built last month. Sherlane and her husband are very friendly hosts, who do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The amount of detail Sherlane put into equipping the house was outstanding. There are snacks, sweets, toast & peanut butter breakfast, and even some beers in the fridge waiting for you ! We really loved this welcoming atmosphere. The house is completely off-grid though, which means electricity from a generator, and no Wifi internet (which wasn't a problem for us, since - amazingly - the area has 5G phone coverage).
