DINNER
Margate's favourites include Angela’s fish restaurant and its sister restaurant Dory’s, perfect for oysters and a glass of wine. Sargasso is the team behind Brawn, situated on the harbour arm next to Dive bar - get there quick as the food is so good they often run out. Barletta in the Turner gallery. GB Pizza or Palms Pizzeria are great for a cheap and tasty meal. Bottega Caruso is known for its authentic family-made Italian cuisine set in the heart of old town, next to Ralph’s which serves incredible sourdough pizzas.
BREAKFAST
If you're up and out early get down to Forts situated on the seafront, they make the best brunch in town! Along Northdown road, you will find Cliffs or Skinny Dip coffee houses to choose from. Grain and Hearth are excellent for fresh pastries and coffee, they are only a five-minute walk from our house.
DRINKS
For evening drinks, Bar nothing is always great fun, Tom Thumb theatre is intimate and low-key for a cocktail. In town, you will find Elsewhere which always has the latest music performing in their basement venue and across the way is the newly opened Mariachi tequila bar! For a more sophisticated evening try Walpole bay hotel and for sunset views, Little Swift is the best. Across from them you can also sit on the steps and order the best fish and chips in town at Beach Buoys.
WALKS
Walpole bay has the largest tidal pool in Europe and is said to have wonderful healing properties. For other great beaches, the beautiful walk along the cliff top to Broadstairs, passes you by Botany, Kingsgate, Joss and Stone Bay. Explore the seaside town of Broadstairs and treat yourself to fresh fish at Flotsam and Jetsom, followed by a classic ice cream sundae at Morelli’s.
KIDS
Fun for the kids includes Bugsys retro ten-pin bowling hall, pirate playground by the lido and children’s corner on the main sands. For a more educational day out you can take them to the famous Margate shell grotto or Margate caves!
