A great place to stay and very courteous staff, the chef was accommodating of even providing the required diet for my infant. However I would recommend it more for couples or adults rather than anyone with kids. We struggled a bit with many ants and insects having an infant with us. This is of course a natural location but with the baby it was a bit exhausting for us to be vigilant. So we didnt enjoy it as much in terms of an ideal accommodation as we may have if we were just travelling as adults. Location was great and accessible to restaurants nearby. Overall enjoyable.

Getting to Lamu is quite the adventure and Shela is a beautiful destination. The grounds of the home are well manicured and Dickson was an amazing chef and made us feel right at home. Right outside the front gate are shops, restaurants and a short walk to an amazing beach covered in beautiful shells. There are also Maasai in the marketplace so please consider supporting them. The entire place is a gem. Be sure to take a sun downer on a wooden boat and book a season with Awham!
