Swallow Barn and Cottage is a stylish home away from home where family, friends and pets can relax, enjoy the local produce and explore the stunning Pembrokeshire coastline, surf beaches and historic sites. The property is spacious and full of character sitting amidst landscaped grounds surrounded by pastures with a secure garden for the dogs. It is close enough to walk into the nearby village of Fishguard. The property is equipped to cater for big groups with plenty of space to play or unwind.
We stayed at Swallow Barn for 3 nights (with 8 adults and 3 young children) and we absolutely loved it. The layout and space was perfect for a big group with multiple families. The space outside the back was great for the kids to play. The walk into Fishguard town centre took around 30 minutes but is paved the whole way, we did it every day (Be sure to get some eggs from the farm just down the road - they were delicious). We would love to stay here again.
frequent visitor to Weat Wales over the years -- stayed in many beautiful airbnbs , but this is in a league of its own. Often here ' photos do not do it justice ' - so , so applicable in this case !
We had a wonderful stay, the barn was spacious and cosy, house very well equipped. We travelled with our disabled son and a 16 week old pup, along with other family, the social areas of the house are fantastic and the walk into town paved all the way, just over a mile to the town square. Great base to explore the Pembrokeshire coastline from. Cosy fireplace if weather suits as it did for us, can imagine even better in the summer with all the doors open and outside space to utilise.
A very spacious, comfortable property which accommodated our family of 10 very easily. The layout is great with a large kitchen and living room. Would definitely stay there again
A diamond of a place! It was an absolute beautiful house, with all the amenities you could need for 11 people over a 4 day Easter weekend. The surrounding areas are beautiful, lots of places for long walks. The living area with the large sofa and log fire is super cosy, we tended to spend most of our time here. There is also a table right at the end with some board games to use. The main kitchen is spacious, lots of cooking equipment and crockery. You do have the other small kitchen but we didn't use this, just the fridge for food storage. This place was such good value for the money, we would definitely not hesitate to book here again! We have told all our friends about this place as we highly recommend. Thank you to Angharad and Richenda for letting us book your beautiful home.
The property is located off the A40 from Haverfordwest, set back from the road down a private driveway. It is in an elevated position with surrounding rural and distant sea views, about a mile to the south-west of the popular coastal fishing village of Fishguard, renown for its picturesque Lower Town Harbour, stunning local sandy coves and beaches and famous cliff path walks.
The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path runs from the village and offers visitors 188 miles of National Park walking and some of the most spectacular scenery in Britain, with seals, whales and dolphins all making an appearance during the year. The surrounding coastline gives endless options for a day out; pebbly coves and sandy beaches stretching for miles in both directions. Newport beach (10 minutes), famous surfing spots Whitesands (20 mins) and Newgale (30 mins), and coasteering in the sea caves at Aberreidy (25 mins).
Fishguard is one of two ferry ports in Wales with daily crossings to Ireland. Swallow Barn Cottage is only 1 mile from the ferry terminal so is ideally situated for travellers to have a relaxing few days in Wales either before or after making the trip across the Irish Sea.
Car would be ideal, however, there is an excellent local bus service to all the main beaches, nearby towns and tourist attractions which leaves from the centre of Fishguard. Cycling is popular because the cycle path runs past the end of the driveway, connecting cyclists to the coast path, and of course there is always leg power! The train station (with services direct to London via Cardiff) and the ferry port (which offers daily crossings to Rosslare in Ireland) are both located in Goodwick, approximately 1 mile from the property. Cardiff airport is just over 100 miles by road.
There are excellent rail and road links to Fishguard. Access from London and the Midlands by train is easy on the direct route. By car, the M4 and A40 dual carriageway ends only 45 minutes from Fishguard itself and the Severn Bridge is around 2 to 2.5 hours away.
Fishguard, Goodwick and the quaint fishing harbour at Lower town are all within easy walking distance (1 mile to town centre).
