东萨塞克斯 · 整套客用套房 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Lewes: ensuite, own access, breakfast included
We are Graham and Shizuka, our two daughters and our sociable Persian cat Saffy. We are offering a comfortable double room with its own entrance in our detached house in a quiet road on the outskirts of Lewes. There is parking in our driveway. 5 minutes walk north or south from the house takes you out onto the Downs yet the town centre is just 20 minutes away. The room has a standard double bed, table and chairs. There is also a laptop table. It is equipped with a mini fridge and kettle. Tea/coffee/milk etc will be there for you on arrival. For now guests can't use the kitchen but a tray breakfast - bread, cereal, juice and yoghurt - is included. The private en suite bathroom has wash basin, toilet and shower. Please note there is no TV in the room but our wifi is normally more than adequate for TV or other streaming on personal devices.
Graham was a fantastic host. Very accommodating and even printed something important off for me that I had forgotten to do for the Brighton Marathon. Couldn’t fault the room, immaculate condition and the bed was really comfortable. Graham came out to greet us once we had unloaded the car and asked what time we wanted breakfast. Brilliant would highly recommend!
We had a lovely stay - thank you! Really well equipped and set up for our stay. So kind to include tea and coffee making facilities and cereal - as well as the super generous offer of breakfast!
This is a great stopover for the South Downs Way. A real highlight is the breakfast and Graham has clearly put effort in on this with warm pastries, fresh coffee and orange juice. The area is super quiet and the village is only 15 mins walk away. Good pub grub at the Black Horse.
We live in a quiet residential road on the outskirts of Lewes, 2 minutes' drive from the A27 and 20 minutes walk (or 5 mins in the car) to Lewes town centre. You're unlikely to have your sleep disturbed by passing traffic but the nearest shop is 10 minutes' walk and the nearest pubs 15 minutes'. On the plus side, from your door you can be up on the Downs within 5 minutes - north towards Black Cap or south towards Kingston and the South Downs Way.
We are on the edge of Lewes so it's about a 20 minute walk to the town centre. The nearest pubs are 15 minutes walk and the nearest corner shop 10 minutes. On the plus side, you can be on the Downs within 5 minutes.
There's a regular bus service (no. 28 or 29, every 10-15 mins during the day) from the end of our road to Brighton town centre via Falmer for the AMEX stadium and universities. The same buses in the other direction will take you into or bring you back from Lewes centre. The single adult fare is currently capped at £2, at least til the end of 2024, which represents good value for trips to Brighton (where parking charges are extortionate).
It's a 30 minute walk uphill from Lewes station to the house (25 mins downhill going the other way). The 28 and 29 don't go past the station so a taxi is probably your best bet if arriving by train exhausted or with significant luggage. It should cost you about £6 during the day and you can normally pick one up from outside the station. Alternatively call GM Taxis once you know your train and real life arrival time - they are right opposite the station but it's best to book them. By the way, leave the station by the main upstairs exit to find the taxis.
For South Downs Way walkers, the easiest access is from Housedean Farm, where the SDW crosses the A27. From there you can pick up the 28/29 on its way from Brighton. The bus calls out the stops and the one you want has the same name as our road. You can also access via Southease Station then train to Lewes. Or you can descend from the ridge above Kingston, straight all the way past the fake windmill and along the Juggs Road, then left down to the stables. Finally you can come straight down from Black Cap, past the racecourse.
