I stayed in this cabin-style home in North Branch, MN, and had the opportunity to meet Renee, her animals, and two of her friends she invited to stay over, last minute. While I appreciated a unique experience, there were some discrepancies with the listing and the experience was poor. The space and amenities were not as advertised. I noticed issues like bedding that smelled of body oil, piles of clutter obstructing walkways, no clear work space, and unclean surfaces. The porch was also filled with trash, which detracted from the overall ambiance. To enhance the guest experience, I recommend addressing these concerns by decluttering, a deep clean, new bed sheets, addressing basic repairs around the home, and being more considerate of appropriate behavior around guests. It might also be beneficial to update the listing description and photos to set realistic expectations. Reviewing and following the Air BnB Host Academy materials would also greatly improve the guest experience.

I loved staying at Renee’s place. It was cozy, clean and we felt right at home. I also loved her animals. The cats were adorable and her chickens were so fun. Would definitely recommend staying here if you needed a night away.

I needed a place to sleep close to a family member in the nearby hospital. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and bed was comfortable.

Renee was a fun and very accommodating roommate, as were her pets (a dog, three cats, two doves, and an assortment of chickens). We brought our dog with us and had no trouble coordinating whose hound was free to roam the cabin and whose was napping on a bed behind a closed door (since hers isn’t fond of other dogs). Renee didn’t seem bothered when we accidentally arrived two hours before our scheduled check-in, and did everything possible to make our stay comfortable, including preparing our very clean and comfortable bedroom and bathroom, inviting us to use her board games, and sharing a pot of coffee with us. As long as you are comfortable and not shy about living with someone and their animals in their home, as a temporary roommate, you will enjoy staying at Renee’s beautiful cabin on her extensive, treed property, and find yourself a convenient 30-minute drive from Taylor’s Falls and Interstate State Park (aka Pothole Park), Franconia Art Park, the St Croix, and much more.
