The space offered is great , just a few concerns about the standard of cleanliness, more thanone towel each for 5 nights would have been nice ( I brought my own so didn’t ask for any extra) lack of kitchen plates and cups for 4 people. The oven and racks need a clean we didn’t use them at all due to the condition. We did message John regarding the left behind item in freezer , fish smell in kitchen and smell of smoke in bathroom, he was quick to respond with in the day and whilst he did ask what we would like him to do, we advised him we had aired the flat to try and help. Sadly we missed seeing John to feed back in person . The flat would benefit from a good cleaning and dusting down of skirting boards , Maybe a few pictures added to walls To make it more homely would be a great touch. Possibly secondary glazing as the workmen like to stand and chat at 6am outside the bedroom , they did move down each morning I popped my head out to ask 😂.

very disappointing stay. We chose this property due to location, number of bedrooms (more than enough for us as a couple, and for our 15 month baby to have a room) and because it offered a travel cot and high chair on request. We assumed from this that the property would be suitable for kids, but it really wasn't. We arrived in the evening, and had trouble checking in (the woman who had the keys didn't know which property it was to let us in). However the main issue with our stay was a lack of cleanliness. There was an overwhelming smell of smoke in two of the bedrooms, meaning they were uninhabitable. Our son had to sleep in the lounge (which wasn't that clean either). Generally the property had a grubbiess, especially the floors, and there were lots of large flies in every room. It was difficult for our son to move around the property because it had fire doors, which were very heavy. We had communicated with the owner before the stay, and he had promised a travel cot and high chair. The travel cot was fine, but the high chair was not there when we checked in. I messaged the host about the smell and the high chair, and a high chair did turn up the next day. However we requested a refund of our cleaning fee as the property stank of smoke, and despite amditting that his cleaner had noticed the smell (it was overwhelming so you couldn't miss it!), he refused to give a refund. Otherwise, the property functioned - basic shower facilities and good TV, in a nice central location. Pub next door wasn't particularly noisy (we were there at a weekend). However our stay was completely marred by the smoky smell and feeling of grubbiness.

Thanks God, we meet a very nice and helpful host like John. We are very enjoyed in the apartment and it is very tidy and clean. We have an amazing journey in Edinburgh. We are highly recommended John's apartment.

Very clean apartment, well situated. And convenient to bus and train stops. Also close to Fife coastal path. If staying on a weekend night, some music from bar next door, but maybe just best to join in! Otherwise a lovely place to stay.
