Dianne was an incredible host! She offered us transportation to and from our bus stop and even gave us a discount at a cafe that she owns downtown. The room is the perfect size for 2 people with lots of space for storage in the garage and well kept amenities. We stayed for 2 nights and the area nearby has hiking opportunities for the Kaikōura peninsula and Fyffe House. Overall it was a fantastic stay in a beautiful and private location. 5/5 stars

The space was lovely and we were very comfortable. Breakfast supplies were great and the location was close to wallokg trails and the town centre. However, we were disappointed with one aspect and the host's communication. We informed the host that we would be late arriving due to a road closure and she offerer to provide us with some snacks from her cafe in case we didn't get any dinner. Some lovely food was left for us and we thought very highly of this supposed kind gesture. However, the next day the host asked us to pay for this despite never making clear or that we were expected to pay. This was quite misleading and left a sour taste from our stay. Moreover, returning to the Airbnb one day we met the host and the first thing she asked was if we had paid for the food instead of asking us how our day had been etc. This again was felt very abrasive. So, other guests be aware that if offered food you'll need to pay. This wasn't communicated to us at all and the food wasn't cheap.

Dianne's place was an amazing place to stay, with everything we could want and more. Using the washing machine, pool and bbq were all fuss free. Although some comments mention the room being small, we had no issues with the space considering the whole garage is available for putting less frequently accessed and/or outdoor stuff that you might not want to put in your living space. On top of all that, the facilities were all for "dedicated" and place felt very private. An unexpected additional bonus was the beautiful view of the stars and milky way on a clear night! Dianne was a great host too and was friendly and helpful throughout the stay, providing helpful recommendations and readily answering any questions we had. Definitely would recommend to anyone coming by kaikoura!
