We also recommend downloading two Apps for your smartphone: The Mapping Authority's app Where? (then you must also download maps of Western Norway and the Inland). And NRK / Turistforeningen's Ut. Both of these apps allow you to see where you are at any given time when you go hiking.
FISHING OPPORTUNITIES
If you want to fish in mountain water, it is quite possible in this area. It is about 40 minutes to walk to the nearest fishing lake. There is a marked path to the 12 fishing lakes in this area.

CROSS-COUNTRY
There are trails close to the house and in the mountains above, you will find URLs with an overview of the trail network at the cottage.
ALPINE
One of Norway's foremost ski resorts, Hermsedal is only a 40 minute drive away. You also have Tyin-Filefjell, a ski resort a quick 15 minute drive away. It has everything from rock climbing and off-piste options, snowboard parks to a designated children's area. They have also established a snow drag area above the upper lifts, if you prefer. has 5 ski lifts and 17 km of slopes of varying difficulty. The highest point is 1282 m, and the drop is 450m. There are ski rental, ski service, ski school and restaurants attached to the resort.
From the ski lift's top station you can see 35 mountain peaks of over 2000 meters, where as many as 15 of these mountains are located in Vang Municipality. The area is considered one of the most snow-rich and snow-safe in southern Norway. For those who are looking for powder snow and skiing with great challenges, these opportunities are also open.
You can also just sit and enjoy nature in the cabin wall where you will find the great tranquility.
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT MARISTOVA (FROM WIKIPEDIA)
Maristova is referred to as the seal house (salustofa, hostel for road users) in 1358, and is in all probability named after the holy Margareta of Antioch ("Margaretarstofa a Filefjelli"), similar to Maridalen.
Over Filefjell is an old road between east and west, especially for the farmers in Valdres who had their nearest harbor in Lærdal. Fjellstua Maristova was probably established as early as around 1300. The farmers in Lærdal and Borgund were responsible for maintaining the "country road" through Lærdal and also the obligation to ride both in the valley and in the mountains, for this heavy duty they were long exempt from military service and had reduced taxes . In 1793, the "Bergen main road" was laid over Hadeland, Valdres, Filefjell and to Lærdalsøyri where there was a boat ride on to Gudvangen or Bergen. This "Kongeveien 1793" was the first drivable road between east and west.
The oldest building on Maristova dates from 1791, when it became a carriageway over Filefjell, and is today a private museum. The first Swiss-style hotel was built in 1888 and expanded in 1894. The Maristuen Hotel was completely damaged by fire on May 4, 1976, and a new apartment hotel was completed in 1978.

You will find a supermarket and a sport shop in Tyinkrysset. There is also a slightly smaller supermarket in the center of Borgund - direction Lærdal
