The photos don’t do the location justice! From the windows it’s looking out at fields, water, and the island across. James and his family are very involved in the local community, so they’re knowledgeable and helpful. The interior space is simple, but was certainly enough for our stay. The kitchen has been recently renovated and was easy to use.

Perfect for what we wanted it for! Beautiful view of the sea and short stroll into Portmagee. James was easy to chat to and easy to make contact with.

James' flat in Portmagee is so wonderful, I wish we would've planned a longer stay. The property is so peaceful and we felt very much at home and comfortable here. Watching the sheep graze from the kitchen window was a definite highlight. Not to mention the incredible views of the water, mountains and Valentia island nearby... I could have easily stayed here 4 or 5 nights as a home base while exploring the Ring of Kerry and it would have been worthwhile. I also wish we would've taken James up on his offer to make a turf fire to warm up after a windy/wet day, and to tour his whiskey operation, but we had so little time. We did try his whiskey in a local pub and, personally, I thought it the best whiskey I had tasted while in Ireland (and we tasted quite a few!) - Thank you for a wonderful stay and we hope to be back.
