Saint Dogmaels · 整套民居 · 2室3床1.0卫 · 可住4人 · Traditional, cosy 2-bedroom Pembrokeshire cottage
St Dogmaels or Llandudoch is a beautiful riverside village sitting just across the Teifi River from the market town of Cardigan in West Wales. The cottage is a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk to the beautiful Blue Flag beach of Poppit Sands, and also the start point for the Pembrokeshire Coast path with its spectacular views and abundant wildlife. Our cottage features 2 bedrooms and an open plan living space with a wood-burner, providing you with everything you need for your Welsh holiday. Ger y Bryn is a traditional Welsh cottage which has been cleverly re-designed to maximize space and comfort. It includes two bedrooms - one with an incredibly comfortable king-size bed and the other with two single-beds, a kitchen-lounge with a lovely wood-burner, a spacious dining room, a laundry room and a shower-room. There is also a cottage garden where you can enjoy your breakfast on the decking whilst watching the geese fly overhead to their feeding grounds. Like many gardens in the area, please be aware that access to the decking is via steep steps without a hand-rail.
Lea and Steve's cottage is a lovely place and makes for a great starting point to explore the Pembrokeshire coast. All the amenities listed are provided, and excellently clean and presented. The garden is mainly stairs and flowerbeds but is totally enclosed for visiting dogs. Driving around the area takes some getting used to but there are great nearby services, including a pub and a shop, and Cardigan is just within walking distance. A brilliant place, would recommend for anyone coming to explore West Wales.
Had the most wonderful stay in Saint Dogmaels. The cottage was cosy with everything we needed to make us feel at home. The bed was very comfortable. The garden was a little overgrown but didn’t spoil our stay at all as we were out every day with so much to see and do in the area. The area itself is pretty, with a lovely pub down the road with beautiful views of the river. Would definately recommend a stay here. Thank you for the brilliant communication and saving the day when we accidentally locked ourselves out!
Ger y Bryn was everything the listing and previous reviews said. It was the right size and perfectly located for us to explore this part of the world for the first time. It is extremely well equipped and very homely. The cupboards are stocked with various bits and pieces and the use of a washing machine and dryer, a bonus. It proved to be a brilliant base for a most enjoyable holiday. Communication from Lea and Steve was excellent. We managed to park in front of the cottage but we have a small car so it wasn’t a problem. It is extremely quiet out of main commuting hours and only 5 minutes drive from Poppit or Cardigan. Poppit is beautiful and the cinnamon buns at Crwst, an absolute must. The steps into the garden are steep and the garden is natural so people with mobility issues may struggle to access it. Ger y Bryn certainly lived up to expectations and we would recommend the cottage in a heartbeat.
Steeped in history, with the ruins of the 12th century Abbey at its heart, St. Dogmaels is the start point for the 186-mile Pembrokeshire Coast path with its spectacular views and abundant wildlife. There is a weekly farmers market on Tuesdays selling produce from around the local area. The Ferry Inn pub offers riverside views over the beautiful Teifi estuary and the local fish and chip shop is famous for miles around.
Cardigan has several big supermarkets and superstores, banks, several pubs, a swimming pool, leisure centre, restaurants and coffee shops. You can buy freshly-caught fish, visit the Castle, or browse the many independent local shops. You can also take a boat trip into Cardigan Bay where there are frequent sightings of bottle-nosed dolphins. You can hire kayaks or participate in kayak trips along the estuary where you might see an otter or two.
The Welsh Wildlfe Centre Nature reserve on the outskirts of Cardigan is one of the best wetland sites in Wales for over-wintering birds. If you love the Great Outdoors this is the place for you ... just check out Iolo's Pembrokeshire and Wonders of the Celtic Deep on BBC i-player for a taster!
There is parking for 1 small car directly outside the cottage. There is also free parking a few minutes down the road.
Both Poppit Sands and Cardigan are a 20 minute walk from the house.
