The house sits on a double corner lot measuring approximately 11,330 square feet and the lot has extensive, mature landscaping giving it a traditional Floridian feel. The outdoor space is truly a private oasis!
Besides being close to the downtown excitement, getting on and off Siesta Key can be a challenge, which is why a lot of people love to stay in the downtown
area so they can travel freely and only deal with the crowds when they go to the beach. For beach lovers, Siesta Key Beach is an easy 7-mile drive and Lido Key beach is a 4-mile drive. The world-famous shopping of St Armand Circle is only 3.5 miles away.
According to Sarasota Magazine the Laurel Park neighborhood “is the most charming neighborhood” in Sarasota. This community is perfect for anyone who likes a small-town feel with urban convenience. There is a beautiful park down the street. You can walk your dog, relax in the gazebo, or watch your children on the playground.
Thoughtfully designed and environmentally sound gardens surround the property creating a park-like setting. Nestled away among the palms, mangoes, and jacaranda trees in the Historic District of Laurel Park, our House is accessible to the attractions waiting for you in beautiful Downtown Sarasota, all within easy walking distance. Fine and casual dining options abound; art galleries, boutiques, salons, the botanical gardens, consignment/thrift stores, and the bay are all just an easy stroll away, as are bike trails and kayaking. In fact, there are 2 bikes and 2 kayaks for your use and there is a great ramp to pull your Kayak on rollers to within walking distance of the house that will take you out into Hudson Bayou and into Sarasota Bay.
This retreat offers a 3 bedroom/3 bath house embedded into a tropical, fenced-in garden. The historic “J Walton Taylor Family Home” charms with its vintage character, while being graciously updated to today’s lifestyle. This house is perfect for one family or multiple couples as each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom and separate space.

The kitchen/dining room/living room open floorplan is light and bright with French doors leading out to the terrace in the tropical backyard. For the wine enthusiast, there is a walk-in temperature-controlled wine room that can hold up to 320 bottles of wine.
While Sarasota's culinary scene is definitely worth exploring, sometimes nothing beats a home-cooked meal. The main kitchen area has open cabinets so you can find everything easily in this well-stocked kitchen. The kitchen is amply equipped with a brand new stainless steel stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, K-cup coffee maker (with plenty of coffee and tea selections), blender, pots and pans, utensils, and basic cooking supplies like olive oil, salt, and pepper. There is also a dishwasher. There is a dining area between the kitchen and the living room that looks out onto the backyard. There is also a wet bar area that makes it easy to create your favorite beverage!
The backyard includes a brand new outdoor kitchen/bar. The new pool boasts a waterfall, sun shelf for easy access for those not wanting to go down the pool stairs, shallow end and deeper end to 6 feet as well as a sunbathing area with new outdoor furniture. This is a heated pool.
The living room is roomy with a comfortable couch and plenty of light completed with a Smart TV for all your viewing pleasure. The living room looks out into the backyard and exits to a large sitting deck with a table and chairs and the outdoor kitchen/bar area and ultimately to the pools.
The large master suite offers skylights, a rustic brick fireplace, a dressing room, and an en-suite bathroom including two large glass closets on either side of the hallway leading to the en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. There is a King-Sized bed in this room. There is a sitting area in this room as well as a Smart TV for access to your favorite viewing options such as Netflix and Amazon.
The second bedroom suite opens up to the pool area and features a private bathroom with a shower. In addition, there is an outside private shower right off the bathroom door that makes it very accessible and fun to use. This bedroom has a queen-sized bed as well as open shelving and a dresser with a Smart TV at the end of the bed. The third bedroom has a private bathroom as well in addition to a small desk and a full bed. It is adjacent to a second kitchen which leads out to the covered and screened porch with another table and chairs for eating and/or socializing. This porch can also be accessed from the main deck off the living room. The stacked washer and dryer are also in this second kitchen area.
The house has a tankless water heater that ensures plenty of hot water for all 3 showers. A brand-new outdoor kitchen area has been completed and a new larger heated pool and Jacuzzi are being added to the backyard and will be completed prior to your stay. A second smaller, electrically heated pool surrounded by vegetation, completes the relaxed tropical feeling. The excellent walkability factor and its bohemian atmosphere remind one of Key West. The Laurel Park neighborhood is an excellent alternative to high-rise downtown condo living. Quiet, peaceful urban living, only moments away from shopping, dining and the bars, farmer’s market, cultural attractions, and Bay Front.
There is a caregiver that lives in the property over the detached garage that is on the other side of the lot and he will not disturb you in any way. You will have a complete run of the house and pool areas.
Beach supplies are provided including chairs, umbrellas, cooler, balls, and other toys.

Accessibility: There are two steps at the front door and there are a couple of steps to enter the back door via the deck. Once in the house, there are no steps.
For those traveling with their pets, we realize that most consider their pets as part of the family. We are pet-friendly! We ask that you contact us ahead of time for approval. Please clean up after your pet and do not allow them on furniture. There is a fenced area but outside of that, they must be leashed. Also, we ask that you do not leave your pet alone. A pet fee will be added of $50 per visit.
One parking space next to the garage plus off-street parking is available free of charge.
This property books in weekly increments.
We are smoke-free inside the house. A $500 smoking fee will be charged to violators.
Sarasota is a wonderful city with so much to do and many places to visit. No matter what your taste, there is something for everyone: theatres, clubs, restaurants, shopping, marinas, charter fishing trips, boat and jet ski rentals, parks, and nature trails. Be sure to check out Burns Court Historic District, which is within bike riding distance, the food is great, unique shopping, and a great little theatre. Also, on Saturday mornings you will be close to the Farmers Market, a great place to stroll around and check out the many vendors that are there.
Should you decide to leave this Floridian sanctuary, you’ll have all your desired amenities within walking distance with plenty to do and see for all ages!

Everything from acoustic jazz to rock can be found at the many restaurants and other venues on any given evening. Looking for something a little bit more laid back? Visit one of the cozy lounges located within one of downtown Sarasota’s historic buildings.
THINGS TO DO;
Bike, kayak, rent a pontoon boat, rent Jet skis, walk the neighborhood, go to live music at the restaurants and bars downtown, go to the beach, go to the Oyster bar on Siesta Key, go to the movies, go to the Opera, the 20-mile legacy trail is about 15 minutes south of our location and you can walk and/or ride your bike all the way down to Venice Florida. Go to the Ringling Brothers Museum, Look for shells and sharks’ teeth. Take a sunset cruise or a diner cruise. Relax in the pool or Jacuzzi, read a book, take a nap, go to a waterpark, go to the races. Well maintained and almost entirely straight, the bike trail begins at the historic Venice Train Station and heads north. At about a third of the way, This home is located near the Legacy Trail. This trail passes through Oscar Scherer State Park and now has been extended through Sarasota. We provide the bikes so go out and enjoy what Sarasota has to offer! The options are endless!
