An ASTOUNDING stay at Jose Daniel's place! I cannot recommend this place enough. Despite the fact it is not in Antigua (about a 20 minute drive away), there is a lot to see and do around the area and just staying on the property on one of the outdoor patios taking in the breathtaking, ever-changing view, is divine! Jose Daniel was extremely caring, very responsive and ensured I had everything I needed. His recommended taxi driver, Cesar, who picked me up from the airport and drove me into Antigua was wonderful! Jose Daniel's place is incredible. The views of the volcanoes is unsurpassed. On my first day there I was able to see Volcano Fuego spewing smoke which happened several times during the day. The grounds and decor are exquisite; the cabin is all wood and the aesthetic sparse and clean. There's an avocado tree growing on the premises as well as many beautiful flowers. I was sad to leave such a perfect sanctuary but hope to return in the future!!

I loved my stay so much at the start of the year I decided to come back for my final two weeks of my time in Guatemala. It felt like I was coming back to a second home, and the view of watching Mt. Fuego erupt just doesn’t get old! Jose Daniel is a wonderful host, so responsive and did everything in his power to make sure I had a great stay just like the first time. I’m going to have such wonderful memories of this country because of my time in the cabin!

What an amazing stay! I loved it! I spent four weeks and it was just the environment I was looking for. The cabin had everything I needed and the views from the balconies overlooking the volcanoes was absolutely stunning. Wifi was fast and reliable. Bed was really comfortable. Kitchen area had everything I needed. Compound was secure and I felt very safe. There is a restaurant literally right on the doorstep which I ate at at least a couple of times a week. As the cabin is up the mountain it did become a bit hard sometimes to get an uber (particularly in the evening to go into Antigua or to get back after being out in town for dinner) - set the payment method to cash and they are more likely to take you or use one of Daniel's recommended taxis (just agree price with driver ahead of time), but that was a small inconvenience that just took some planning! If you are going out in the evening let Pedro (groundskeeper) know so that he can leave the entrance gate unlocked for you!
