Lovely stay at Chris's place with friends (including kids) for the eclipse. Chris was very responsive, and even laid an impressive fire in the fire pit for our use. house was as described.

We used the home as a base between visiting attractions in St. Louis (a little over an hour away) and some state and county parks at the edge of the Ozarks (30 minutes to an hour away). It is definitely private and quiet. We enjoyed seeing deer in the morning, and we saw many birds we don't see in the upper midwest. It does not have Wifi, but we have AT&T, and we had signal consistently during our stay (about 1 to 2 bars) which was enough for phone calls, texting and web searches, but probably not adequate for streaming. It doesn't have local / cable TV or streaming capability, but does have a DVD player. The house itself was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The manual had directions and information about the property clearly written out. The owner provided us with enough free wood for a good-size outdoor fire, and you can purchase additional logs for $1 a piece. We definitely recommend it.

It's a little out of the way, but we were not in a hurry. Everything was nice and clean. we like to avoid hotels when we can.

The place was wonderful. The only notes we would make are make sure you are aware it has no internet and no television service. If you need entertainment, make sure to bring something to hook up to the tv for movies or games. Other than that, I can't imagine anyone not enjoying the place. Spacious, relatively inexpensive, and if you are looking for a country experience, it is called a lodge after all, it is perfect.
