This is a perfect place to stay. Luxury accommodation with great value for money. The views from each of the houses is beautiful across the island and towards Sao Jorge. Great restaurant with good home cooking - good for multiple nights. Great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Beautiful interior design in a modern and luxury way but using local materials and components. Well-equipped kitchen and BBQ but we opted to eat in the restaurant as it was so good. Beautiful swimming pool with an adjacent yoga studio which we took full advantage of. Charming hosts and staff! The island is beautiful and lava homes is well situated to visit all the attractions. The best place we stayed in the Azores!

Lava Homes is an amazing place perched on the side of the Pico Island facing Sao Jorge. Incredible views of the coastline from the huge balcony that wraps around the home. We found the home to be better then described - amazing small touches in the construction and a good value. The location is 45 minutes from Madalena with a very small town a few minutes away and a larger town only 30 minutes away on the opposite side of the island so in some ways it's centrally located. The pool is gorgeous, the store to buy staples is very well stocked with high quality ingredients and the staff was helpful and friendly. This is one place we would definitely consider returning to on future vacations it's just so peaceful and beautiful.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this beautiful and very clean and comfortable property. It is located on a beautiful cliffside with unrivaled views of the water, sunset (though you don't see the actual sun), and Mount Pico on a good day. This is very new property with some growing pains that hopefully will work itself out over time. There were several minor issues during our stay including non-functioning safe deposit box and phone not hooked up but nothing major. The location is beautiful but be aware that you are quite a distance from a proper grocery store and restaurants besides the onsite restaurant Magma which is difficult to obtain reservations. The onsite marketplace is helpfully stocked with basics including bread, wine, butter, cheese, and some fruits and prices are fair. However necessities such as oil and charcoal/matches/starter blocks for the grill are not included and needed to be bought at the store as well. Washer and dryer is conveniently located adjacent to the property and easy and free to use with detergent included. The pool is beautiful and we tried to enjoy it as much as we could. Unfortunately the water was a bit cold during our stay due to the weather. Also the pool is unusable in the mornings due to overnight insects. It would be helpful if it was cleaned earlier for those wanting an early morning dip but it was always wonderful during the evening time. Pool towels must be obtained from reception. Service overall was ok but can be improved. There was only one person at the front desk when we checked in after a difficult day of traveling and she was very busy taking care of all the guests, the phones, and restaurant guests by herself. She tried her best to help us but maybe due to the evening hours staffing was limited. There was a mixup with the restaurant reservation which we thought we had booked for the night but it was for another day and they were unable to accommodate us as they were fully booked which we understand. The restaurant offered to have takeaway options available for 9pm which we agreed since the weather was terrible and we didn't want to venture out again after a long day. We snacked on bread and cheese back at the villa as we waited. 9PM rolled by and we went to pick up the food however we were told it wasn't ready yet so we took a seat and waited. and waited. and had to continue to wait until 9:50PM(!!) before our food was ready with no updates whatsoever the whole time. The food was ok but by that time even the best food would have lost its appeal. Fortunately the rest of our stay was without major mishap though we stayed away from reception and the restaurant after the earlier incident. Staff overall were friendly and tried to be helpful. The property itself has huge potential and as they work out the kinks I hope future experiences will improve to 5 stars.

Wunderschöne Häuser mit tollem Comfort und Blick auf Sonnenauf- und untergang. Wir wurden sehr nett empfangen und sehr gut betreut. Würden jederzeit wieder hingehen und können es für Familien und Paare empfehlen.
