More than any other Sicilian city, Syracuse embodies the timeless beauty of the region. Ancient Greek ruins rise in the heart of magnificent citrus groves, the café tables overlook splendid baroque squares and the honey-colored medieval alleys slope down to the sparkle of the turquoise sea. Today it is difficult to imagine it, but in its heyday Syracuse was the largest city in the ancient world, larger even than Athens and Corinth. Founded by Corinthian colonists, who landed on the island of Ortigia in 734 BC, four years later it became a real city. Almost three millennia later, the ruins of this settlement constitute the Archaeological Park of Neapolis, one of the most important archaeological sites in Sicily.
The accommodation enjoys a strategic position to visit Syracuse, its province and all of Eastern Sicily! The apartment is close to the sea and the cycle path, is a 20-minute walk from the archaeological area (Greek Theater, Tomb of Archimedes, Ear of Dionysus, Roman Amphitheater), and less than 10 minutes from Paolo Orsi Archaeological Museum, Catacombs of San Giovanni, from the Sanctuary of the Madonnina Delle Lacrime and from the church of Santa Lucia.

300 meters away from the accomodation, there is "Latomie dei Cappuccini" stop of the green line of the electric buses that lead directly to Ortigia. At the same stop, it is possible to rent a bicycle with the Go-Bike service.
850 meters away, there is another stop "Von Platen" of the red line of the electric buses (one run every 30 minutes, from 8:00 to 20:00, one-way price of 1 euro) which allows you to reach some of the main points of interest in the city:
- The Sanctuary of the Madonnina delle Lacrime;
- The Paolo Orsi museum;
- The Archaeological Park of Neapolis
- The Fonte Aretusa;
- The Castle of Maniace;
- The bus and train station.
- FROM CATANIA AIRPORT: it is possible to reach the apartment by taking the Interbus service from the airport to "Von Platen" stop (1 hour and 15 journey, price 6.20 EUR), 10 minutes on foot from the apartment.
- FROM THE STATION: it is possible to reach the apartment on foot in about 25 minutes or, alternatively, by minibus.
- IF YOU ARE TRAVELING BY CAR: free street parking available near the property (NOT bookable and NOT guaranteed). The closest paid parking is located in Via Augusto Von Platen 40, a 10-minute walk from the property, open every day from 8:00 to 20:00.
