Get away from it all. Comfortable, secluded villa, situated in the best region of the Dordogne. All major tourist sights within easy reach. Privacy. Exclusive use of property, pool and extensive grounds. No compound or sharing of facilities. Located in peaceful, beautiful rural hamlet within 4 km of a supermarket and petrol station. Within 15 mins drive of the beautiful town of Montignac with plenty of bars, restaurants, markets and the caves of Lascaux. Bergerac or Bordeaux daytrips possible. The owners of the house have rented holiday villas for many years and found it was hard to get a place with authenticity, privacy, plenty of space but with a level of comfort more usually found in a nice hotel. A well equipped, high end home rather than a standard holiday gite, hotel or a place in a compound where you share facilities and lose privacy. They tried to create precisely this. If you value the delights of a comfortable bed, quality bedlinen, fluffy towels, luxurious bathrooms and a well equipped, spacious kitchen diner for preparing those memorable meals with market fresh organic French produce read on. You will get a beautiful interior and exterior, privacy, large grounds, great views and a tranquil setting. The house is spacious and has several different seating/gathering areas allowing large groups to mingle without it feeling crowded and/or allowing some privacy between generations/groups should this be required. The centrally placed kitchen diner is the space where everyone gets together for le petit déjeuner and in the colder months for le diner. The house has been lovingly restored and is designed with a unique interior that combines contemporary design with art and antiques. There is a focus on natural materials. The house has two floors and all the bedrooms are on the top level. There are two staircases giving access to the top level. All bedding is hypo allergenic and linens and towels are 100% high grade cotton. All mattresses were recently purchased and are of good quality with pocket springs to aid ventilation and hygiene. All guests will receive a towel pack for their bathroom use. This does not include large pool/beach towels but this can be separately negotiated. We have chosen for no TV but there is good WiFi coverage and a small library of English language books as well as a games cupboard. There is good fridge capacity, a gas fired stove (5 rings) with three ovens (electric), microwave, an American fridge with water and ice dispenser, a Nutri Bullet, a Senseo coffee machine and cafetiere. The kitchen is fully equipped with all necessary utensils, crockery and glassware. There is a dishwasher, vacuum cleaner, washer, dryer and an iron available for your use. Extra bed linen is available on request. Please note that the top beds of the two bunkbeds have a mattress length of 180 cm. The bottom beds are 2 meters long. All bathrooms have a hairdryer. The house is partly centrally heated and partly electric. Outside: There is a large teak dining table with chairs and a smaller one seating 4 on a separate “viewpoint terrace”. There is a built stone BBQ. Not recommended for children who can’t swim, the pool (unheated) being some distance from the house, ungated and not visible from the house. Not suitable for people who have difficulty getting around unaided due to the sloping terrain, drops in height and steps to the pool. There is a security system with three cameras facing the main approach which is activated by sensors. We will at your request disable these cameras. Possible discounts available for smaller parties under 9 off season.
This place is magical, the property is stunning inside and out. The views from the outside dinning area are spectacular. The interior in every room is like something from a magazine, a gorgeous mix of old and new. The location is so peaceful with only the sounds of wildlife. The skies are incredibly clear at night with zero light pollution so perfect if your into star gazing. Nina was lovely, very easy to deal with and sent us a full pack of information before we arrived which included a perfect selection of recommendation of restaurants and sites to visit. Truly was a magical 5days.
Our group had a great time in this really spacious house. The kitchen is really well equipped with the option to dine here or on the scenic terrace. There's a choice of lounges for evening relaxation and all the bedrooms are very large. Outside the dining and pool terraces overlook extensive grounds and have great views into the distance. The house is in a small hamlet and very peaceful.
The Dordogne is a beautiful unspoilt corner of France. It is like time stood still here. This area of France caters towards low impact tourism, whereby there is a focus on nature, culture/architecture and gastronomy. You will not find large hotels, casinos, shopping malls, a wild nightlife, or golf courses here. It is excellent for walking, cycling (steep hills and forest tracks), canoeing, a thousand and one castles, prehistoric caves and sites, medieval history, architecture, gastronomy and wine. We are located in the Perigord Noir, famed for its truffles, foie gras, walnuts and its many beautiful hills and river valleys. The climate is temperate, you rarely get temperatures above 30C and the mornings can be a little chilly up to May. La Peyre is a tiny, quiet, rural hamlet with around 10 houses in it but yet it is only 4 km from a decent supermarket and petrol station (Thenon) and 12 km from Montignac, an attractive market town for bars, restaurants, canoeing and the famous Lascaux caves. Distance to Perigeux, the capital of the region, is 40 mins and to Sarlat it is 42 mins. The house is 5 mins drive from a childfriendly "guingette", an open air café/restaurant which is adjacent to a little lake where there is simple but good and budget friendly food and where they have regular evenings with live music. At 10 mins from the house there is Appel de la Foret, a woodland climbing zipwire parcours.
Airports:
Brive 33 mins
Bergerac 75 mins
Bordeaux just under 2 hours
Train station:
Thenon is 6 km from the house
You need a car to get around the region

Hi, I'm Nina and a mother of two great kids. We like air BnB as it gives you a much more interesting experience than staying in an anonymous hotel. It is nice to stay in a place that has some character and space, something rarely offered by mainstream hotels. A home rather than a hotel. Air BNB can give access to parts of cities or regions that may not traditionally have much accommodation so you get to experience a region in a different way. As guests we are clean, respectful and quiet. We would expect the same from our guests. We look forward to meeting you!
