We had a great time at Casa Villa Real. The house is beautiful and the best part is having your own access to the lagoon so you can enjoy the water anytime you like. The walk from the house to the main area for restaurants and shops was flat and about 15-20 minutes. We ended up renting bikes which I highly suggest because it is a great way to explore the town and easily move around. Luis was very helpful and quick to respond if we had any questions or needed suggestions on the best way to enjoy our time in Bacalar.

The property and location is very nice. The view of the lagoon is gorgeous! The house and outside living spaces are great. The only area of improvement would be to have more accessories(for example, there was not even a wine opener. Also, for the price that this place is rented, there should be a check list for the cleaning/maintenance team to make sure that all equipments work perfectly(for example, one of the showers was broken). A renter’s guide would also be great to have upon arrival. Water temperature in the other(only working) shower was not functioning, it was either burning hot or cold…Providing 5 gallons of drinking water would also be a nice attention for a rental of this price and type. Basically, this is what you expect when renting a place like this. Overall, this is a great property, but there could be some improvements!

Beautiful location and home right on lake Bacalar, the views and water were amazing. We really enjoyed our stay, and the town. We had a two year old with us and in hindsight we may have been able to better relax in a single level home. We were surprised that the biggest bed in the house was a full, but we made due. There were also some of the normal México home challenges like water temperature, pressure and plumbing things. Overall we had a great time, we hired a boat to take us around the lake which is a must do, as well as visiting the near by Los vapidos, a river float that far exceeded our expectations. The host was friendly and accommodating and gave us a fair price.
