Charles is an excellent host. He stocked the pantry, and the bathroom, with thoughtfully chosen staples that spared me having to buy not only breakfast but also lunch and dinner and toiletry supplies. He showed up to clear the driveway when it snowed, and was eager to do everything possible to ensure I was comfortable, including adjusting the water temperature and buying me jigsaw puzzles when I asked if there were any. Though old, the house is well maintained, and very clean (fireplace btw is not currently working, something not noted in the listing). Good ear plugs solved the morning noise that other reviewers note. I'd also recommend an eye mask, as the smoke detectors in each bedroom emit a laser-bright pulse that's pretty annoying. Otherwise it was a cozy stay and convenient to the family I was visiting.

We had an excellent stay at Charles' place. As advertised it is an older home (his family home in fact) on a large lot. It is relatively close, about a 10-minute drive, to two major highways. The commuter train station is a 7-minute drive away. We used scenic backroads for trips to e..g Concord and Newbury Port. Charles was very hospitable and helpful, met with us upon arrival, and promptly responded to our questions. The house, while older, is well-outfitted and had all we needed. We were duly impressed with the many new supplies Charles had provided and we kept on finding additional items upon opening more cabinets. If there is a negative, it is that the house is on a busy through-road resulting in road noise. We recommend this Airbnb to those who do not expect a modern home but are looking for easy comfort in a well-connected rural setting.

Charles is a kind person and a thoughtful host. He stocked the kitchen full of all the things a family would need. The house has a charm of its own, it’s very interesting. It was kept very clean. And I was surprised at how well maintained everything (appliances included) was given that most of the things inside are very old.
