Great location accessible from major airports and effortless checkin. Property is very well maintained, staff onsite is friendly, professional and serves delicious authentic Kerala cuisine cooked to order and Saraswathi is an excellent host. Overall had a wonderful experience and Plan to stay at Palat House again.

We (my friends and I) loved our stay at Palat house! The house is full of rich history, and is a quiet, calm, peaceful retreat. The bedrooms were beautifully appointed and very comfortable, and the whole space was very clean. We enjoyed Smitha’s cooking and leisurely walks in the beautiful garden. Thank you for a lovely stay 😊

Our stay in Ottapalam was delightful. I wanted to compliment the staff at Saraswathi’s place for their caring and service. The food was homely and delicious and always on time . My wife and I had a wonderful 7 day stay at Palat House. We liked the way the family has restored the house. (The wooden rafters in our room were beautiful). It was great to see how they’ve managed to retain its character and history, while ensuring comfort and cleanliness. The cook, Smitha - unflappable and ever-smiling - cooked us up some great local Kerala meals (and continental desserts) - simple, which is much appreciated when you’re travelling - yet delicious. The “handyman” Shekharan too was very helpful. Evenings spent on the deep traditional ground floor “porch”, or on the 1st floor terrace, added to the experience. Overall a truly enjoyable 7 day stay. We have no hesitation in recommending it highly.

If you are looking for a relaxed homestay vacation, which makes no great physical or mental demands, this should be your number one choice. The house is large enough for everyone to get their own privacy and space. There are ample sit-outs, from where you can look for birds or stare at the sky. The food provided by Smita is homely, wholesome, tasty Kerala fare. Beyond the house, you can wander to the 'Thoda' or even walk down to the Bharathapuzha bridge to catch the sunset. Perfect place to check-in at so you can check-out from the world!
