We live in Florence and stay at the villa whenever possible. We adore the Tuscan lifestyle; the land, the food, the wine and its nature. Even though the villa is just an hour and a half from Florence, we feel like we are transported to a different time and place each time we arrive at the villa. The property is located in a national park reserve so all you hear is the sound of nature. Our favorite family activities are swimming in and lounging by the grand pool, walking by the stream and through the countryside, exploring local wild life and visiting the local village of Radicondoli to greet our friends. The people of Radicondoli are kind and generous. We are like a large extended family in the village - everyone knows one another and takes care of each other. Lisa is American; a yoga teacher and the mother of our 2 girls. Gerardo is an Italian architect and a passionate Napolitano and chef. It was December 2000 when Gerardo discovered the villa (by chance) after it had been abandoned for over forty years.The vast nature of Anqua, the abundance of pure water and the potentiality of what was left of the architectural structure led him with all his enthusiasm and passion into the 10 years restoration process. The goal was to transform the XVI century Mill of Anqua into a place where the untouched nature and the comfort of modern day coexist. During an international sailing regatta in 2009, in Newport RI, Gerardo met his wife, Lisa. Receiving guests at the villa gives us a genuine feeling of happiness. The villa was created to give guests the space and freedom to create, explore, dream, celebrate and/or to just get-away from it all. We look forward to assisting you in any way. Whether before, during and/or after your stay at the Villa - we want your vacation in Italy to feel as though you have somehow fulfilled a dream. For us, it truly is a great pleasure to share this little corner of world with our guests, some of whom have become dear friends. We look forward to having you in this magical place!
