John was an excellent host, helpful and friendly

The location is beautiful and the property is very clean. It is very homely - there are lots of interesting artworks on the walls and a lot of love has gone into building this home. Overall, our stay was pleasant, however it was not exactly as expected. We hired the place as the “entire house / property to yourself”. I have stayed at many air BnBs with my partner all over the word and this usually means that the host is NOT on the property, or are there only briefly to greet you. John was on the property for our entire stay, which I only found out about when we arrived. He stayed in a caravan down the bottom of the garden and would pop into the Air BnB at various times throughout the day and let himself in to have a shower, check his voicemail and use his computer etc. In all honesty this made us a little uncomfortable as we felt we couldn’t relax properly and be ourselves. This place felt more like guest house or a more traditional BnB, where the host pops in to see how you are doing. Wouldn’t recommend if you are looking for a very private, secluded getaway, however it would be lovely if you were sharing the place with John and Nora and just renting a single room. They were generous and brought us extra chopping boards, knives etc. The pool is beautiful and we really enjoyed swimming in it. I just feel like John should have written that he would be on the property and would be sporadically using the house during our stay before we booked, so we could have known in advance.

This property was in a beautiful bush setting on lush acreage with lovely views. It was spacious and tidy and one particular highlight was the gorgeous outdoor eating area with BBQ. Everything we needed was provided. While we enjoyed our stay, a couple of things detracted from it being excellent. First, there were lots of breakable items around the house, and with our family having 3 kids under age 5, it was difficult being constantly vigilant. Second, our host entered the house on two occasions without prior warning (no knocking or doorbell, he just “appeared” to check all was okay) and while this may not bother others, it did make us feel a little uncomfortable. Overall though it was a pleasant stay.
