Our second visit to this great house in its beautiful surroundings - mountains, river, short walk to village shops, restaurants, bars, "cave" and beach kayak/pedalo hire.( no fresh milk available in the village store, Cessanon or Murviel for wider choice.) The new patio was perfect for family gatherings, plenty of seating, crockery, kitchen equipment, fridge and freezer space, &.( Another village apartment was rented for sleeping accommodation, not ideal but necessary.) The games room had plenty of use, providing table tennis, football and a cool sofa retreat for hotter days. The excellent pool was popular with all three generations and a great spot for star gazing. N.B. for topping up the pool, use the yellow hose from the pool shed tap, not the green garden hose! In the extreme heat we put plastic chairs in the river under the trees and cooled down communing with the fish.. The housekeeper, Marlene responded quickly to requests and Jessica /Bellvilla were very solicitous..

This is a review of two halves. The property is wonderful, with a perfect location on the banks of the Orb, close to the absolutely wonderful little town / village of Roquebrun, which is a hub location for activities in the mountains and close to the Med for beaches, diving and other water sports. The house is idyllic, with views of neighbours mostly obscured by wonderful planting. The accommodation was great and the owner of the villa (as opposed to the letting agency) was nice and accommodating, a gentleman to deal with. I would return to the house in an instant with the whole family. The terrible thing is that the letting agency is not the owner, but a terrible company called BelVilla based in Holland and one of two other places across Europe. They just do not care about their customers once they have the money, no communication barring "Sorry we are busy, we'll get back to you", which they never do. With the Covid crisis, you need an agent that gives a damn, and these people just do not. We at one point asked them to transfer the booking back by a year, and they applied a £1000 punitive charge to the booking... of course we rejected that and just kept our fingers crossed. We were lucky and could go and enjoy the property, but wow... a very worrying run up to the holiday and looking at the Trip Advisor reviews for BelVilla, you have to wonder if they will still be in business next year.
