Exceeded our expectations! This is such a rare opportunity to board and sleep in a veritable time capsule! Stayed with my 2 boys (13 and 17) We arrived at sunset and were in awe! From the listing I’d not realized the size of this boat or the number of rooms available, it was fantastic!! It’s literally a ship, docked in water right next to a Coast Guard ship in a small harbor. Night skies were beautiful. The first floor (up a flight of stairs) is the museum and gift shop. That’s were we met the Host. Then you climb another flight to get to the deck and living spaces. If you’ve been on a boat you’ll know the meaning of “a place for everything, and everything in its place”😉. It’s the nature of the vessel to have small private rooms with cubbies, lots of hooks, stow areas and larger areas for communal activities like lounging, eating. Superb job caring for this vintage gem I’ve reached my 1000 character limit… but BOOK IT! You won’t be disappointed❤! Eat at The Painted Lady

Great experience sleeping “on the boat”! Ship was built in 1931 and seems to be very original. Neat cabins and beautiful views of Manistee lake! There isn’t air conditioning in the rooms, but each room has a fan and fans in the common area. It felt cool even on a warm night in July thanks to the lake. Wi-Fi is excellent! Is a bit of a walk from the parking lot so packing light to carry up the stairs is advised. I was a bit confused on check in since I rented the Pullman suite which sleeps 4. I didn’t realize it’s actually 2 connected cabins with 4 single “bunk beds”. Great for a family of 4! Nice breakfast with muffins, donut holes, juice and regular coffee. I’d like to come back to get the full tour of the rest of the boat and the Coast Guard ship next to it since didn’t have time this trip.

We had an amazing one of a kind stay on the S.S. Milwaukee! Such a great experience we appreciated all the restoration hard work and beauty aboard. We slept great, had a nice warm shower and enjoyed the continental breakfast on the deck in the morning! Definitely a treasure..a hidden gem right here in Michigan!

A very cool way to step back in the past to experience how some people traveled back then. I really enjoyed myself and learned some history along the way.
