A stunning cottage (380sq.m.) in a 4,000sq.m. plot of land full of olive trees, traditionally built in hand cut local stone (castle-like) with breathtaking view of Gythio - the Laconian Gulf, where even Kythira island is visible. Its spacious rooms can accommodate up to 12 people making it the ideal choice for families or large groups who wish to discover southern Peloponnese -especially Inner Mani, and at the same time looking for a relaxing and luxurious vacation. 'Liopetra' is the name of the cottage as abbreviation of the Greek words ilios (sun), elia (olive) and petra (stone) describing its fundamental features. The cottage extends over 3 levels, featuring 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms; on the ground floor there is a living room with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, a cosy bedroom with a semi-double bed, a bathroom with jacuzzi shower head; on the 1st floor there is a large and spacious living room with fireplace and 3 couches (the L-shaped couch converts easily to a double bed), a dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, a bedroom with a double bed and a bathroom with bathtub; on the 2nd floor there are two bedrooms, one master with a private bathroom and a private balcony, and another one with either 2 singles or 1 double-bed plus a bathroom with jacuzzi bathtub and on the hall between them a fully functional kitchenette (electric hob, small fridge, washing machine, no oven) . All bathrooms are equipped with glass shower screens and toilet facilities (such as hair dryers) and 2 laundries are located in the ground floor and in the 2nd floor. The residence additionally has a portable crib, feeding chair, and baby toilet for infants, wi-fi connection, 3 smart TVs with NETFLIX connection & PS3, A/C, boiler and large private parking space while all floors are fully air conditioned. Outdoors, there are independent porches on each floor equipped with outdoor furniture surrounded by olive trees, more specifically a dining table and comfortable sofas on the 1st floor and a rooftop balcony offering moments of relaxation and mesmerizing 360-degree view of the Gulf and its surrounding hills. The land has been tastefully planted with an abundance of local flowers, pick-your-own herbs and olive trees.

L’accoglienza di Thanos e di sua moglie è stata molto calorosa (sono venuti ad accoglierci personalmente) e con un piccolo e molto gradito rinfresco. Inoltre la casa era fornita di bottiglie di acqua, succhi e caffè. C’erano anche delle ottime bottiglie di olio home made. La casa è fornita di tutto ciò che può servire (detersivi, biancheria per la casa, elettrodomestici che solitamente non sono a disposizione in abitazioni in locazione) ed al momento del check-out i proprietari sono venuti a salutarci personalmente portando un regalo per ciascuna famiglia. La casa ha una vista mozzafiato sugli uliveti circostanti e sul mare che si vedono dalla terrazza in cui abbiamo gustato ottime cene ed aperitivi.

Wunderschönes Steinhaus mit super Ausstattung! Wir wurden von den Eltern von Thanos (Kommunikation läuft über Thanos) herzlich empfangen. Süssigkeiten, diverse Getränke und am Schluss ein tolles Geschenk hat uns erwartet! DANKE! Leider konnten wir wegen der Hitze im oberen Zimmer nicht schlafen. Nur 1 Zimmer ist mit einer Klimanlage ausgestattet. Ausserdem war das Wasser in der Dusche enorm heiss. Trotz der Hitze ein toller Aufenthalt!

Great house overlooking all of Gytheio!! House has everything anyone would want or need and the host Thanos was incredibly generous in providing us local sweets and a number of local wines and fresh juices upon our arrival! Very much enjoyed our week in Selinitsa and it was a great gateway to everything the Laconian coast has to offer!!

This a unique property. It is beautifully done with a lot of attention to detail and impeccable taste. The house is very comfortable and very well equipped. It is thoughtfully designed with private and common spaces, which makes it very livable. It is also sparkling clean. We were two families with four adults and four children aged 4 to 10. We spent 8 days there and we wished we had spent more. We all fell in love with Thanos place. The location is great. The house is a good base to explore Mani and there are several options for day trips, activities, beaches and restaurants. We met Thanos and his son Efthymis who came to welcome us and also to say goodbye. They were both great hosts and they know the area really well. They gave us tips for restaurants, day trips, beaches etc and their recommendations were spot on. It was very easy to get a hold of them and they were super attentive to our needs. Overall a superb experience. We will be coming back.

The cottage is located in Selinitsa, a secluded quite area near the sea (just a 2-minute drive) and a 5-minute drive from the center of Gythio, Mani where playgrounds, cafes, bars, taverns and restaurants are, along with Kranai islet. The property lies in the center of all attractions. A shipwreck by the beach is located nearby (3-minute drive) waiting for young explorers. Mystras with its well known Byzantine palace is located near Sparta (the birthplace of King Leonidas), just a 40-minute drive. The must-see medieval fortress of Monemvasia island can be reached within 1h drive. Historical cities of Inner Mani such as Areopoli, Limeni and others are 30 minutes away by car. Last but not least, visitors must definitely visit Diros underground water caves, which are the largest and most significant in Europe, and can be reached within a 40-minute drive.

The cottage can be easily reached from 2 international airports (ATH - Venizelos airport - 3.0h drive & Kalamata airport - 1.5h drive) via highway roads. Other options include bus transportation or by boat if you are coming from/heading to Crete island (Chania), Kythira or Antikythira island.
